For 2011, the Ford F-150 undergoes a complete change of powertrains. The previous two- and three-valve 4.6-litre V8 and 5.4-litre V8 engines are replaced with a choice of 3.7-litre V6, 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6, 5.0-litre V8, or 6.2-litre V8. All transmissions are now six-speed automatics with standard tow/haul feature, and all but trucks equipped with the 6.2-litre V8 are standard with Ford’s first use of electric power-assisted steering on a full-size truck. The SVT Raptor, previously available only in SuperCab configuration, now also comes as a four-door SuperCrew, and is only available with the 6.2-litre V8.
Other changes are in trim, including increased availability of Sync, a 4.2-inch LCD vehicle information screen introduced on the redesigned Ford Super Duty, and new option packages including an Off-Road Package that adds an electronic locking rear axle. (The Super Duty is covered in a separate entry.)
The F-150 comes with a choice of four engines: a 3.7-litre V6, a twin-turbo 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6, 5.0-litre V8, and 6.2-litre V8.
