- All-new model

An all-new model for 2011, the Dodge Durango returns but as an entirely different vehicle than the SUV that previously used the name. This time, it is based on the unibody platform used by the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The Durango comes with a 3.6-litre V6 engine or 5.7-litre V8 engine. Both use a five-speed automatic transmission. All use all-wheel drive and are seven-passenger seating.

Trim levels are the SXT, Crew Plus and Citadel. All come with the V6, but the Crew Plus and Citadel can be optioned with the V8.

Features on the SXT include 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, cloth seats, 60/40 fold-and-tumble reclining second row seat, 50/50 split-folding third-row seat, fold-flat front passenger seat, acoustic windshield and front side glass, hill start assist, trailer sway control, front active head restraints, automatic headlamps, fog lamps, CD/MP3 stereo, Sirius satellite radio, Uconnect hands-free phone, USB port, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, heated mirrors, and removable and rechargeable flashlight.

The Crew Plus adds 20-inch alloy wheels, leather seating, chrome exterior accents, eight-way driver and four-way passenger power seat adjustment, SmartBeam headlamps, driver’s side memory, leather-wrapped steering wheel, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, driver’s side auto-dimming exterior mirror, 115-volt outlet, chrome roof racks with integrated stowable crossbars, power liftgate, remote starter, security alarm, CD/DVD/HDD premium Alpine sound system, rear park assist, back-up camera, bright front door sills and cargo scuff plates, and cargo cover.

The Citadel adds 20-inch chrome-clad wheels, premium Nappa leather seating, luxury interior, ventilated front seats, eight-way power passenger seat, power sunroof, auto-levelling xenon headlamps, unique chrome grille, blind spot monitoring system, rear cross-path detection, adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning, power tilt and telescopic heated steering wheel, navigation system, hands-free voice text, Bluetooth streaming and remote USB.

Issue: 
On certain vehicles, the fuel pump relay could fail. A fuel pump relay failure can result in a no-start condition or cause a sudden loss of engine power while driving. 
Note: Vehicles that had a fuel pump relay replaced as part of a Transport Canada Recall No. 2014-386 (FCA Recall No. P54) or 2015-085 (R09) require a second repair under this recall. 
 
Safety Risk: 
A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions: 
FCA will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the fuel pump relay, mounting bracket and related wiring.

Details:

On certain vehicles, a brake booster shield may have been incorrectly installed as part of recall P14/2014-112. An incorrectly installed shield could be less effective in diverting water away from the brake booster, creating the possibility of corrosion allowing water to get inside. In a cold climate, water inside the brake booster could freeze limiting the braking ability of the vehicle, resulting in longer braking distances, increasing the risk of crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the installation of the brake booster shield and perform repairs as necessary.

On certain vehicles equipped with electro-hydraulic power steering (“EHPS”), the alternator may fail suddenly. This could result in the engine stalling, causing a loss of motive power which could increase the risk of a crash as well as disable various vehicle safety systems, and could also cause a fire. Both issues could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property.  Correction: Dealers will inspect the part number on the alternator, and will replace the alternator as necessary. Note: Only specific engine and alternator combinations are affected by this campaign.

Details:

On certain vehicles equipped with illuminated sun visor vanity mirrors with 120mm wiring, service repairs requiring removal of the sun visors and/or headliner may cause an electrical short circuit which could increase the risk of a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Vehicles equipped with 120mm wiring that were previously repaired under recall 2014-275 will require repair under this recall.  Correction: Dealers will replace the sun visors and modify the surrounding sheet metal and install vanity lamp wiring guides.
