History/Overview
The Chevrolet Tahoe is one of the iconic American brand's full-size SUV models, which shares its basic underpinnings with the Silverado pickup. The Tahoe is unchanged for 2020 as Chevrolet readies a redesigned version for 2021 or 2022.
Available Trims
Chevrolet offers the Tahoe in LS, LT, and Premier trims. The first two start with rear-wheel drive and can be optioned to 4WD, while Premier is 4WD-only. Standard power is from a 5.3L V8 and a six-speed transmission. Premier can be had with an optional 6.2L engine and a 10-speed transmission.
Standard Features
LS trim comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, black side steps and roof rails, heated/power-adjustable side mirrors, automatic wipers, a 12- and 110-volt power outlets, a 4.2-inch driver info display, a six-speaker stereo, an 8.0-inch infotainment display, cruise control, a conversation mirror, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, tilt steering, power windows and door locks, keyless entry, cloth upholstery, rear park assist, three-zone automatic climate control, and tire pressure monitoring.
The LT package adds forward collision alert with low-speed automatic braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, automatic high beams, a power tailgate, a nine-speaker stereo, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather upholstery, tilt-and-telescopic steering, and power-adjustable pedals.
Premier trim brings 20-inch wheels, body-colour side moldings, a hands-free tailgate, HID headlights, a 10-speaker stereo, navigation, front and rear park assist, fog lights, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, passive keyless entry, blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert, power-folding second- and third-row seats, electric steering column adjustments, and wireless smartphone charging.
Key Options
Among the Tahoe's options are a sunroof, power side steps, an RST performance package with the 6.2L engine, a larger driver info display, brown leather upholstery, an upgraded trailering package, and a collision avoidance system with full-speed forward automatic braking.
Fuel Economy
Chevrolet's fuel consumption estimates for the Tahoe are 15.7/10.5 L/100 km (city/highway) with the 5.3L engine and RWD, and 16.0/11.2 L/100 km with 4WD. A Tahoe optioned with the 6.2L engine and its standard 4WD are 16.5/10.9 L/100 km.
Competition
With the Tahoe, Chevrolet competes with the Ford Expedition and the mechanically-identical GMC Yukon. Other full-size SUVs include the Toyota Sequoia, and the Nissan Armada.
