Chevrolet introduced the Blazer in 2019 as a new mid-size crossover model wearing a familiar name.
What's New / Key Changes from Last Year
New for the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer is a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that slots between the existing 2.5L naturally aspirated four-cylinder and 3.6L V6. Last year's base model (simply called Blazer) is gone, and there are new LS and LT trims.
Available Trims
Chevrolet offers the Blazer in the aforementioned new LS and LT trims, along with True North, RS and Premier packages carried over from 2019.
LS comes exclusively with the 2.5L engine, while LT and True North get the new 2.0L or the V6. RS and Premier both come standard with the V6.
A nine-speed automatic transmission is standard. LS and LT come with front-wheel drive. AWD is optional in LT and standard in True North, RS and Premier.
Standard Features
LS comes standard with 18-inch wheels, auto on/off HID headlights, heated/power-adjustable side mirrors, LED daytime running lights and taillights, a six-speaker stereo, active noise cancellation, an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats with manual adjustments, passive keyless entry, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, power door locks/windows, cloth upholstery, and tire pressure monitoring.
LT adds an eight-way power driver's seat, satellite radio, and the 2.0L turbo engine.
True North gets black roof rails, auto-dimming side mirrors, a power tailgate, a six-way power front passenger seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, blind spot monitoring with lane change alert, rear cross traffic alert, rear parking sensors, leather upholstery, and an integrated garage door opener.
RS adds the V6 engine, 20-inch wheels, a hands-free tailgate, a 120-volt power outlet, an 8.0-inch driver info centre, ambient interior lighting, a heated steering wheel, navigation, and satellite radio.
Finally, Premier trim comes with chrome exterior accents, an upgraded grille, silver roof rails, an eight-speaker stereo, a cargo management system, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a power-adjustable steering column.
Key Options
The Premier Plus package adds automatic high beams, surround view cameras, a camera-based rearview mirror, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, and wireless smartphone charging.
Among other options is a keyless entry keypad.
Fuel Economy
Chevrolet's fuel consumption estimates for the Blazer are 11.3/8.9 L/100 km (city/highway) for the 2.5L engine and front-wheel drive; 11.3/8.7 L/100 km for the 2.0L and AWD; and 13.1/9.4 with the 3.6L engine and AWD.
Competition
Blazer competitors include a number of big names in the mid-size crossover class, like the Hyundai Santa Fe, the Ford Edge, Subaru's Outback, Volkswagen's Atlas Cross Sport and the Honda Passport.
