floater This is a solid safe car, with loads of trunk space September 03, 2014 standard
Overall Score
I have owned this car for 9 years, bought it with 25,000kms from my elderly father. It has not been driven hard, but used everyday, thus the high miles many of which are highway as I drove often to Banff from Calgary for my business. The paint is not great but there is no rust. when washed it looks good. It has a new battery. decent rubber, and the breaks work well. It may need new spark plugs they were done at 160,000 km. There is a small leak coming from the lower oil pan gasket, I am told by my mechanic, that this is an issue that is normal with this make and model and that the leak is a nuisance but will not affect motor life.

On certain vehicles, a defect in the ignition switch could allow the switch to move out of the "run" position if the key ring is carrying added weight or the vehicle goes off-road or is subjected to some other jarring event. If this were to occur, engine power, power steering and power braking would be affected, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. The timing of the key movement out of the “run” position, relative to the activation of the sensing algorithm of the crash event, may also result in the airbags not deploying in a subsequent collision, increasing the risk of injury. Correction: For each key, dealers will install two key rings and modify the key ring opening shape. Note: Until the correction is performed, all items should be removed from the key ring.

On certain Aurora, Bonneville SSEi, Devile and STS vehicles, the fuel tank pressure sensor is unusually susceptible to malfunctions causing excessive vacuum to be applied during self-diagnostic testing. Fuel system components can be damaged and fuel can leak from the vehicle when it is refueled. Possible symptoms of this condition are illumination of the Service Engine Soon light, poor driveability, increase noise from the fuel tank area, and inaccurate fuel gauge readings. If there is an ignition source present, a fire could result. Correction: Dealer will replace the fuel tank pressure sensor.

On certain vehicles, the driver's side air bag may not deploy as designed, resulting in reduced capability of the air bag to protect the driver. In addition, the air bag inflator may fracture. If this were to occur, pieces of the inflator could strike and injure the vehicle occupants. Correction: Dealer will inspect, and if necessary, install a new driver's air bag.

On certain vehicles, the driver and/or front passenger lap and/or shoulder belt retractors may not lock up or remain locked up as designed during a crash in which the belt pretensioners deploy. In such a crash, this could result in an increased chance of injury for that occupant. Correction: The dealers will replace the driver and passenger pretensioners.

Certain vehicles may have a driver's side airbag inflator that could fracture at a weld during a deployment. Pieces of the inflator could strike and injure vehicle occupants and the airbag cushion would not inflate fully, reducing the capacity of the bag to protect the driver. Correction: Dealers are to inspect and if necessary replace the driver side airbag module assembly.

Certain passenger vehicles were built with missing or under-torqued steering gear attachment bolts. If a bolt is missing, the driver may notice uneven steering response or unusual noises during turns. If the left bolt is missing and the right mounting strap fails, steering control is lost and a vehicle crash could result. Correction: Dealers will inspect the vehicles for presence and proper torque of both steering gear bolts

Certain vehicles do not comply with the requirements of CMVSS 209 - Seat Belt Assemblies. The push button release effort for the front outboard seat belts exceeds the maximum of 14 kilograms (30 pounds). After a crash, the higher release efforts could make it more difficult for an occupant to release the belt and exit the vehicle. Correction: Dealer will add "snap on" latch clips to eliminate the potential of inverted latch plate insertion. Dealers will inspect the seat belts and, if necessary, modify the latch plates with a special tool or replace the retractor.

Certain vehicles may have internal fluid leaks in the brake hydraulic control unit. When the rear brake proportioning, antilock brake, traction control, or stability control feature is activated in some driving situations, the feature may not perform as designed and the driver could lose vehicle control. On certain hearse and limousine vehicles, the right front brake hose may contact the wheel resulting in damage to the brake hose. A damaged hose can result in loss of brake fluid and a half system failure which in turn will cause a low brake pedal and increased stopping distances. Correction: Dealers will replace the right front brake hose assembly. The left front brake hose assembly will also be replaced to prevent the possibility of incorrect positioning of the hose during any future service.

Certain limousine vehicles do not comply with the requirements of CMVSS 124 - Accelerator Control Systems. The plastic end fitting of the cruise control cable may contact the brake master cylinder and fracture. The fracture may prevent full closing of the throttle as required by the standard. Correction: Dealers will install a new cruise control bracket and, if necessary, replace the cruise control cable.
