blizzy63 A Buick to Be Proud Of (with Some Caveats) August 15, 2016 CXL RL6 2.4L
Overall Score
Very stylish German-designed (see Opel Insignia) premium FWD sedan. Purchased at 5 years/63,000 km. Interior quiet with road noise coming only through the tires. Seats and steering on the firm side; Might become tiring on a long trip. Engine performance adequate for a 4-cylinder pulling a 3700 lb. car. Handling is tight and responsive; the car's girth can be felt through the steering wheel. 2010-11 GM Ecotech 2.4L engine defect repaired under Special Coverage warranty (#12313B): Loosened (noisy) timing chain caused by faulty guides and potentially faulty high-pressure fuel pump (on engine) replaced at no cost to me. Engine and transmission working fine at this time. Fuel econmy good (9.9L/100km; regular gasoline). (Personally wish it were a V-6.) Car's StabiliTrak occasionally signals 'Service StabiliTrak' message that 2 GM dealerships could not diagnose (no OBD codes detected). Has no effect on car's performance. My wife finds the car difficult to enter/exit due to the low seat stance and heavy doors; I'm OK with it. Infotainment system somewhat complicated; too many buttons and menus. Can become distracting while driving.

On certain vehicles equipped with 8-way power adjustable front seats, the wiring harness of the power seats may contact the seat frame and chafe. Over time, chaffed wires could cause an electrical short which could result in inoperative power seat adjustments, flickering lights on the instrument panel, sparking, smoke and potentially cause a fire which would increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect, repair and secure the wiring harness as necessary.

On certain vehicles equipped with power height adjustable front seats, a bolt securing the adjuster mechanism may loosen and fall out. This would cause the seat to drop to the lowest vertical adjustment position, which could affect the driver's ability to safety operate vehicle controls as well as cause reduced driver visibility. These issues could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the bolt.

Certain vehicles may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. If one of the two front turn signal bulbs burn out in either front turn signal lamp, no indication would be provided to the driver, which is contrary to the requirements of the standard. Correction: Dealers will update vehicle software.

Certain vehicles fail to comply with requirements of the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110 - Tire Selection and Rims. The spare tire size was listed incorrectly, with the letter "T" missing on the Tire Pressure Label. The label should properly indicate the spare tire size as T125/80R16. Correction: Since this does not pose any risk to vehicle safety, no corrective action is required.
