History/Overview
The SQ7 is the quickest version of Audi's biggest crossover. The three-row V8-powered express has been available elsewhere in the world in previous generations and now we're happy to have it back in Canada for 2021, its second year on the market here. When it comes to size and pace, there's not much that competes with this one
What's New
In just its second year, Audi's made no significant changes to the SQ7.
Available Trims
Audi keeps the SQ7 build sheet simple. There's only one version for sale in Canada.
Standard Features
With just one trim offered, Audi crams everything it can into this one. For a start, 21-inch alloys, LED head and taillights, and the body kit that sets it apart visually from lesser Q7s. The big crossover has a panoramic glass sunroof as well as acoustically glazed windows. The glass is power for the side front and rear with rear sunshades and there are adaptive wipers.
The seats are power-adjust with heat and ventilation for the front (just heat in rear), and are S-spec seats with more bolstering, Valcona leather, and special quilted stitching. Even the dash is Nappa leather on this one. Sports steering wheel with power tilt/telescope, four-zone climate control, foot-activated power hatch, and power closing doors add to the lux features. Tech includes Audi virtual cockpit plus digital dash, Bang & Olufsen audio, MMI Nav plus, smartphone interface, and signal-boosting phone box.
Pre-sense front and rear, parking aid with 360-display, lane departure warning, and head up display are the high points of the driver aid features, the suspension is an adaptive air system with all-wheel steering.
Key Options
Though there are many standard driver aids, active cruise control, traffic jam assist, traffic sign recognition, and lane departure warning with steering assist, are all part of a Driver Assistance Package. Massaging seats are on the list, as is the no-cost option of a heated round steering wheel in place of the flat-bottom sports wheel.
Fuel Economy
The Audi SQ7's fuel economy estimates are for it to get 16.0 L/100 km city and 11.0 highway.
Competition
The SQ7 competes with the likes of BMW's also very quick three-row X7 M50i, or the slightly quicker Alpina XB7 based on the BMW. There is also the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 and the pricier P525 Range Rover HSE.
