Though it hasn’t been on our shores for very long, the attractive and well-appointed Audi Q3 has been available overseas since 2011. That means, from Canada’s perspective, that the company’s smallest crossover appeared to evolve very quickly through what was in truth a mid-cycle refresh for the 2016 model year.
Available in front-wheel drive or Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive, the 2016 Q3 starts at $35,190 and comes with only one powertrain option: a 2.0 L four-cylinder TFSI (200 hp, 207 lb-ft of torque; 12.0/8.2 L/100 km city/hwy in FWD, 11.9/8.4 with quattro) paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Three trim levels are available, whether you choose to power two or four wheels.
The base Komfort trim delivers 18” wheels, a 10-speaker sound system, leather seats with heat and four-way power lumbar support in the front row with power adjusters for the driver, Bluetooth capability, a panoramic roof, cruise control, and heated exterior mirrors among other features.
At the middle Progressiv trim, the feature list grows to include dual-zone climate control, eight-way power front seats (also available separately as a package), and an auto-dimming interior mirror as well as aesthetic tweaks. If you’ve opted for front-wheel drive, you also receive 19” wheels.
For the top Technik trim the wheel distinction remains, and only the FWD version gets LED headlights and S line exterior add-ons. At this level, both FWD and quattro receive power-folding and auto-dimming heated exterior mirrors, a rear-view camera and front and rear parking sensors, power tailgate, and a Bose 14-speaker sound system.
A number of feature packages are available at any trim.
The Convenience package can add rear parking sensors, a power tailgate, and an advanced key.
The Sport package gives any configuration 19” wheels, paddle shifters, an S line sport suspension, and front comfort sport seats among other features.
The Navigation package adds navigation plus a 7” colour screen and voice control.
The Black Optics package adds a high-gloss black grille surround, window trim, and roof rails.
