CHANGES FOR 2013:
An all-new A3 family goes on sale in Europe, but Canadians continue to make do with the older model for at least another year. As before, a 200-hp, turbocharged 2.0L I4 base engine remains the base mill, with either front-drive or Audi?s excellent Quattro all-wheel drive. A six-speed manual is standard, while an optional S Tronic dual-clutch automatic is mandatory with Quattro A3s. The frugal 140-hp, 2.0L TDI diesel model comes only in FWD/S Tronic spec. While the A3 is stylish, offers German-car driving characteristics and wears a luxury badge, the less expensive Volkswagen Golf models offer a very similar package.
Standard features on all models include 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, fog lamps, cruise control, heated auto-dimming mirrors, heated washer nozzles, keyless entry, rain-sensing wipers, heated leather seats with power driver?s adjustment, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input, satellite radio pre-wiring, panoramic sunroof, auto-dimming rearview mirror, Bluetooth connectivity, multifunction leather-wrapped steering wheel and interior lighting package.
