The final year of this A4 generation may not have some of the flashy interior upgrades of the new 2017 model, but it is a well-fitted and capable offering that’s proven popular with Canadian luxury buyers.
Audi’s 2.0 TFSI gasoline-powered engine (220 hp, 258 lb-ft of torque) is the only powertrain on offer in the A4 (the S4 is another matter entirely), and it can be paired with three different transmissions.
The base model is front-wheel drive and comes with a CVT, available only in the entry-level Komfort Plus trim (starts at $38,500; 9.9/7.6 L/100 km city/hwy). Buyers can step up to either a six-speed manual (starts at $41,200; 10.6/7.3 L/100 km) or an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic (starts at $42,800; 11.0/7.8 L/100 km), both of which come only with Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system, and can take either of those configurations all the way up to the top Technik Plus trim.
Key features at the base Komfort Plus trim include 17” wheels (18” with the two quattro configurations), sunroof, heated front seats and exterior mirrors, power seats for both driver and passenger including power lumbar support, and a 10-speaker sound system.
Progressiv Plus adds three-zone climate control, a rear-view camera and rear parking sensors, HD radio, and auto-dimming mirrors among other features.
Technik Plus comes with its own wheel design as well as adaptive headlights with cornering, the Audi Side Assist lane-change assistant, a 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, heated rear seats, and adaptive damping suspension.
Three packages are available, all of which are directed toward giving the A4 a sportier exterior and interior look.
