Ford Adds Rugged Mustang Mach-E Trail to Lineup for 2027
Ford is offering buyers an easier way to get into rugged version of its all-electric crossover, the Mustang Mach-E. Joining the exuberant Rally trim in 2027 is the slightly slower, but still capable Trail package.
Announced today, the package is based on the entry-level Mustang Mach-E Select. Although the Trail package will add to the base model’s starting price of $45,590 in 2026 (Canadian pricing has not been communicated at time of writing), it will cost significantly less than the range-topping Rally trim, which starts at $68,590.
To the base vehicle, the Trail package adds an extra 10 mm of ground clearance at the front, and 15 mm at the rear thanks to a specially tuned suspension. It also gets the Mustang Mach-E Rally’s 19-inch Dark Carbonized Grey wheels and the same Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires to provide drivers with grip on pavement, gravel, and dirt.
To match the wheels, Ford has added a Carbon Black lower fascia and special Trail logos throughout, plus a mountain-like graphics pattern near the front wheels. A standard 400W adds a 120V AC outlet to the cargo area, perfect for plugging in pumps and other appliances that could be helpful on an outdoor adventure.
The new version will also be compatible with the Thule clamp-on cross bar kit that makes it easier to carry kayaks, bikes, and other toys. An optional protection package adds all-weather mats for the floors and cargo area.
For 2027, all Mustang Mach-Es will come equipped with the (formerly extended-range) 88 kWh battery pack as standard — the GT and Rally trims offer a 91 kWh battery pack. Unfortunately, range estimates for the Trail package have not yet been announced.
The 2027 Mustang Mach-E Trail is expected to go into production in early 2027. Further details are expected closer to its launch date.
