Buick is getting Super Cruise for the first time. The 2024 Buick Envision will enjoy a refresh inside and out that includes GM's hands-off driving assistant. It will be the first Buick to get the feature and is the third of five new vehicles that the automaker plans to introduce this year.
Like the 2024 Buick Encore and Encore GX subcompact crossovers, the Envision will get styling inspired by the Wildcat EV concept. That means slim headlights and a pointy nose as well as low-slung headlights and a grille that is wider and taller than the model it replaces.
While we can't see much of the back yet, the Envision looks to have changes there, too. Expect clear taillight surrounds like on the two Encore models and some other new details that include Buick's re-imagined logo.
Super Cruise is the big news. The system lets drivers go hands-off on compatible highways in the U.S. and Canada. So far, there are more than 644,000 km of mapped highways where the feature will work when conditions allow.
The hands-off driver assistance feature was launched in 2017 on the Cadillac CT6. It has since rolled out to a small number of other Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC models, but not yet to Buick.
Buick didn't reveal much about the inside, but the 2024 Envision looks to get a new dashboard display to help support Super Cruise. The photo Buick provided shows a screen that looks like the display from the latest Encores. The Encore GX has an 8.0-inch dash and 11.0-inch centre screen in the same bezel. This one appears larger, at least for the dash.
The 2023 Buick Envision comes with all-wheel drive as standard equipment, along with a 228-hp 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a nine-speed automatic. We're not expecting powertrain changes for 2024, but that is subject to change.
