The Rock, hanging out of the door of a moving SUV, steering a live torpedo by hand. If that isn't enough to make you click on the second trailer for the Fate of the Furious, the eighth movie in the Fast and Furious franchise, then I don't know what is.
But just in case, the three minutes of this trailer packs in more action, more Vin Diesel yelling, Jason Statham sneering, and Dwayne Johnson looking angry than most whole movies could handle. There are prison fights, bad guys, and "surprise" betrayals. Oh yeah, there are some cars too.
This one has a villain who can take command of cars. Mostly Fiat Chrysler cars, apparently, but cars of all types. Even if they are as basic and old-fashioned as a modern car can be - like a Ford Crown Victoria taxi or a 1980's Chevy Van- then Charlize Theron's character can remotely take control and drive them. She sends hundreds of cars in pursuit of the main characters, even launching cars off of a parking garage.
If you want Best Picture award winning writing and acting, then you're looking in the wrong place. But if you want cars doing crazy things, absolutely bonkers driving, and some of the biggest car explosions of the year? Then watch this trailer. And if you like the trailer, then the Fate of the Furious is in theatres April 14.
