Toyota's new Nissan Juke fighter, the C-HR compact SUV, will start at $24,690 when it arrives in Canada this spring. The model will come in just one trim level with a preferred package available offering some extra goodies.
The aggressively styled, especially for Toyota, C-HR - which stands for Compact High Rider - is a compact crossover that Toyota says will seat five adults. The only trim level will be an XLE model with a 2.0L four-cylinder that produces 144 hp attached to a continuously variable transmission that has simulated manual shifting. The combination is rated at 8.5 L/100 km city, 7.5 highway.
The $24,690 C-HR will have a display audio system with a 7.0-inch screen and Bluetooth connectivity. It will also have dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, 17-inch alloys, and a full-colour 4.2-inch information display in the dash.
While it looks and sounds like a crossover, the C-HR is front-drive only, and at just 149 mm, it has five mm less ground clearance than a Camry. The almost as stylish Juke offers 44 hp more and all-wheel drive.
Toyota will offer an upgrade to a premium package that includes 18-inch alloys and push button start along with blind spot and rear cross traffic monitoring.
The Toyota C-HR will go on sale May 1st.
