1979 Triumph Spitfire

I like it, great escape.
Sitting low, top down, and driving the country roads, nice comfortable escape.
Needs some TLC, and could be a lot of fun painting and cleaning up under the bonnet.

Fun Ride ,Terrible Mechanics.
Had this car for 4 years...constantly, constantly repairing something or other...and in the '70's parts were only available thru British Leyland and were 2-3X costlier than domestic cars...carbs needed constant adjusting, used high test octane gas...hard to find.
Looked cool but worst car mechanically I ever had...
My MGB was much better...but still British mechanics...

A TR for 2-R
A burned out shell when fully restored by British Motor Group in '92. Has performed well with minor tune-ups from the local British service shop. Has a dual Monza exhaust system that sounds great with the 'fast road' piper camshaft!
Always a pain to take off the soft top to put on the hard top for shows but a beauty when on display.
Only driven occasionally on good weather days and has never seen snow.
Does not have all the bells and whistles but a joy to drive and a real head turner!

Good ride
90000 km later and she's still going. bought it when i was sixteen and think its a good one. more value to me than just a car to get from point a to point b.

it is a great for someone who likes to work on older cars, it has always been parked inside and only driven in the summer.

British Classic - 1975 TR6
This was one of my favorite cars back in high school when it was new.

The TR6 is slowly coming into it's own as a classic british sports car. Not particularly fast but driving one is deceiving. Electronic overdrive makes cruising above the posted speed effortless. With a Monza exhaust the inline six sounds just sounds right. Interior sports a classic wood dash with great instrumentation. Lots of leg room and enough space in the trunk for luggage and beer.

Seat of Pants thrills
owner and restorer, easy to work on, simple mechanics and a bullet proof engine. Driving comfort can get a bit tedious over 3 hours. Always a head turner when that throaty six is heard coming down the street

1977 Triumph Spitfire

Beautiful, if somewhat flashy car.
My family bought this car for $8000 at a used car alley. It had already come with a retrofitted, much more fuel efficient engine so take my fuel economy rating with a grain of salt.
In any case, though it might have been a rather unorthodox first car, I've been very happy with it. I've always had a soft spot for "older" cars, and this one is no exception. Gets a lot of curious/envious looks when I drive it, too.
The only real downsides will be the mechanic bill when the thing finally breaks down (which it hasn't yet) as well as the fact that it's a two-seater - so definitely not recommended for families.

1971 Triumph Spitfire

Fun British Sports Car ... but
Fun British sports car ... but not the most reliable. I think I put on more KM's on the back of a tow truck! Anyway, it was fun to drive and easy to maintain. I was always able to find a good mechanic that had experince on British cars and the ability to source parts when needed. Fun project car, but not recommended as a daily driver.

Classic British Sports Car
Classic British sports car, great for the open road and Sunday drives through the counrty side. Fun to drive and looks & sounds great, but does require a lot of TLC to keep it running smooth. It's also advisable to have CAA ... it came in handy more than once!
