great car
This vehicle is comfortable to drive and reliable. it is great in town. The only concern would be when you are when you acelerate on the highway and it doesn't take off right away.
The backseat area is roomy as the seat is ajustable. Get the automatic trunk lift as it makes it easier.Overall a great car.

Average Family Vehicle
This vehicle has been great for our growing family. There is enough storage, its easy to get in and out of and is great on rural cottage roads and hills. The one drawback that we are disappointed with is that there is a loud rattle that developed about a year after purchase. We have brought the car in repeatedly for it, and reports are that its just a loud car. You can really notice it at drive thru's as it echo's against the wall.

good for a while
car was fine for first few years but for the last few it has been having far too many problems and is more of a hastle than anything else. Cant travel to far without because it will just stop running only good for using to travel short distances very rarely.

AWD great for all weather
With 42,000km on this little suv it has done pretty well so far. We have had a few minor issues with it however they were addressed by the dealer right away and are fixed. Fuel Economy for an AWD is pretty good. Would recommend this suv to anyone!

Bottom Line Quality
Vehicles such as the 2013 Chevrolet Equinox have become the family vehicle of choice for many U.S. households, and it's easy to see why. With handling and fuel economy that are about on par with a mid-size sedan, plus a taller body that brings more space, the Equinox is not only affordable, but versatile, comfortable, and well-equipped.
A few years ago, the Equinox got a much-needed redesign, and for the first time the Equinox felt like an effort that was truly competitive with the segment best. It looked the part, too, with crisper, sportier styling than its predecessor, with better proportions and many of the cues of the 'new' Chevrolet. The Equinox's cabin, likewise, is a little edgier and adventuresome, with vents flanking the radio and climate controls and a design that's much closer to Chevy's new car models like the Cruze and Sonic than to its full-size SUVs or trucks.
For 2013, Chevrolet has upgraded the optional engine in the Equinox; it's now a 301-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6

Equinoxious
While it may look like an SUV, it's actually, and just barely, a crossover. Nice exterior, but atrocious interior design and plastics - aside from the convenience of a sliding second-row seat. Monstrously inefficient, underpowered and thirsty engine will leave you wanting for power and traumatized at fill-ups. The ride is adequate, but a bit choppy on uneven surfaces, and the usual bane of this type vehicle - wind and road noise - are ever-present. Handling is what you'd exepct from something with a sub-orbital centre of gravity, though the brakes - surprisingly, vented discs all around - work faily well. Reliability is fair, but the vehcile is quite delicate, overall

Comfortable, with reliability and versatility.
I have driven this vehicle about 30,000 kms over this first year of ownership. It has proven to be one of the most comfortable vehicles I have owned. ( I have owned dozens of vehicles over about 30 years of driving). Although I would like a little more power, I decided to purchase a 4 cyl. model rather than the optional 6 cyl model for the increased fuel economy. The 2.4 litre ecotec engine has been produced by GM for quite a few years, and has proven itself to be reliable and durable. To this point the vehicle has been perfectly reliable, it has not needed any factory repairs, adjustments, or recalls.

Great on Gas
We had a chance to drive all-wheel-drive Equinoxes with old and new V-6s back-to-back, and we found no difference in drivability beyond the extra kick in the pants. The upshift-happy six-speed automatic carries over, as do high output peaks that encourage a heavy right foot and make frugality difficult. (The previous V-6 offered maximum power and twist at 6950 and 5100 rpm, respectively; the new motor churns them up at 6500 and 4800.) From the sliding rear seat, however, we detected a significant difference in engine noise. The 3.6 is considerably louder for those in the second row, who are treated to a slightly buzzy, metallic note.
As for the interior, Chevy MyLink with navigation makes its way to the options list for the first time—in the past, buyers were forced to choose between a navigation system and MyLink—although it will be available only on the mid-level LT and range-topping LTZ trim levels. Those two trims also gain an eight-way power passenger seat (optional on the LT) and a Safety package, which includes forward-collision alert, lane-departure warning, and radar-based rear park assist. Also new is an available rear-seat entertainment system that includes monitors in the back of the front headrests, dual wireless headphones, and a dual-player DVD setup—again, available as an option only on LT and LTZ trims. With any luck, it’ll distract the kids from the engine noise.

Love my Equinox!
Love my Equinox, only thing I wish was the passenger seat was a little more comfortable the seat belt sensor is felt though the seat and if you put more foam in the heat is reduced from the seat so no way to win there. Also a heater steering wheel would be nice too.

2011 Equinox- happy owner
I have 121,000kms on my Equinox and so far it has been a great vehicle. It still feels tight and solid and has been reliable. I could wish for a bit more power from the 4cyl but I enjoy the fuel economy. Much less upkeep and maintenence cost than my 01 CRV demanded.

Beware: Head Gaskets
I love everything about this SUV except one very expensive problem: Head gaskets.
The SUV suddenly overheated because it ran out of anit-freeze. We learned that the head gasket was ruined and it had a broken head. That was the first time it happened, with about 140,000 kms on it. We repaired the damaged head and drove it for 2 more years. Then it happened again at about 225,000 kms.
It breaks my heart because I love everything else about this SUV. It handles really well on the road in the snow and slush. It's really sturdy and stable and doesn't jerk in ruts or get pushed by the wind when on the highway. There is plenty of room inside for the kids and all our gear. The AWD works really well.
It has a wide turning radius, similar to a truck. If I could change anything in it's design it would be way the back doors close. Dirt and dust easily get between the door and the body of the truck, rubbing and then rusting. You can only see it if you open the back doors. The dirt doesn't enter the cabin but there is nothing you can do to prevent that area from wear.

great style some interior "querks"
I currently own this car, and love it. It does have a few "bugs" as it was the first model year for this make. In cold weather (im talking below -10) the steering wheel "whines" when it is turned and there is a "squeek" in the dash. I really enjoy the window controls are in the center of the console, but the paint has started chipping off on the window controls and the radio buttons.
