For 2008, the Nissan Frontier is unchanged, save for new standard and available features.
The Frontier is available as the King Cab, with 2.5-litre four-cylinder or 4.0-litre V6, and as the Crew Cab, with the 4.0-litre only. The 2.5-litre comes with a five-speed manual, the 4.0-litre with a six-speed manual; both can be optioned to a five-speed automatic.
King Cab models are available in XE trim (4x2 only), SE trim (4x2 or 4x4), and NISMO (4x4 only); Crew Cab models are SE (4x2 or 4x4), and LE and NISMO (4x4 only). The King Cab comes only with a long bed (6 foot). The Crew Cab SE and LE also use the long bed, while the Crew NISMO comes exclusively with a short bed (5 foot).
Features on the XE include 15-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, chrome rear bumper, splash guards, heated mirrors, rear privacy glass, locking tailgate, cargo light, power windows, power locks with keyless entry, tire pressure monitoring system, fold-down front passenger seat, and CD stereo.
The SE models add 16-inch alloy wheels, front tow hooks, chrome front bumper, Bluetooth hands-free telephone system, and front map lights.
The LE adds 17-inch alloy wheels, hill descent control and start assist, stability control, automatic headlamps, power driver's seat, fog lamps, roof rack, step rails, body-colour front and rear bumpers, power sunroof, garage door opener, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, compass, exterior temperature gauge, trip computer, first-aid kit, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and six-CD/MP3 stereo with steering wheel-mounted controls and XM Satellite Radio.
The NISMO models build on the SE with electronic locking rear differential, Bilstein off-road shock absorbers, skid plates, fog lamps, spray-on bedliner, bed rail caps, Utili-Track bed channel system, first-aid kit, eight-way manual driver's seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, overhead sunglass storage, six-CD/MP3 stereo with steering wheel-mounted controls and XM Satellite Radio, and side and curtain airbags.
Nicely sized, the Frontier is very well-equipped even in its base model, at an intelligent price. The SE models provide most of what compact truck buyers want, but for those who like luxury, the LE can be further optioned with heated, power-adjustable leather seats and the NISMO's standard side and curtain airbags.
