Toyota is adding a new trim level to the Tundra for 2018. The full-size Toyota pickup gets more safety tech and a revised exterior design as well.
That means a new grille and headlight design along with LED running lights. They aren't big changes, but there are some more substantial changes on the inside.
The first is the addition of Toyota's Safety Sense P. The company has been going active-safety crazy, adding the suite to nearly all of its models in the last two model years. Safety Sense P comes with automatic high beams, lane departure warning and steering, pre-collision with pedestrian detection, and full speed radar cruise control. Those are standard on every model of the truck. Other interior changes include a 4.2-inch information display standard.
The new trim is a TRD Sport package available on double and crew-cab trucks. It adds TRD tuned Bilstein shocks, TRD front and rear sway bars, 20-inch alloys, navigation, parking sensors, a hood scoop, and LED headlights. There are TRD trim accents inside and out. This is the Tundra handling package, if you're looking for a pickup with slightly better cornering.
Engine choices remain the same, with two V8s available. The base 4.6L engine offers 310 hp and 327 lb-ft, and the 5.7L V8 makes 381 hp and 401 lb-ft. Both use a six-speed automatic.
