Summer blockbuster trailers are starting to arrive, and one of the most anticipated is the one for the eighth installment of the Fast and Furious franchise, "The Fate of the Furious". The latest in the franchise looks to be the biggest yet, with not one but two Academy Award winning actors joining the cast. Charlize Theron is the first and appears to be one of the villains, and Helen Mirren in an as-yet undisclosed role is the other.
What the trailer reveals of the plot shows that Vin Diesel's character Dom seems to have turned against the team. And of course, they'll need Jason Statham's bad guy from the last movie to help them. But who cares about the plot. If you're going to see this movie, you want cars. Cars going fast, blowing up, and lots of throwing the laws of physics out the door. When it comes to vehicular mayhem, this trailer delivers.
Chargers, Challengers, Mercedes AMGs, Corvettes, Bentleys, big rigs, Suburbans with miniguns, and if that's not enough then this time there's a tank. And a Russian submarine. Plus one-liners from The Rock and enough explosions to give any theatre sound system a workout. The eighth installment of one of the most successful franchises of all time looks like it hasn't lost what made most of the rest of the series so enjoyable.
