Dodge Announces Final Year for the Viper, With Five Special Editions

Dodge has announced that 2017 is going to be that last year for the Viper. It's also going to be the 25th anniversary of the first Viper RT/10, way back in 1992. So in order to help it go out with a little more than a whimper, Dodge has announced five limited editions to help end the run.

The first is the 1:28 Edition ACR. It is a tribute to the production car lap record of 1:28.65 set by Randy Pobst in a 2016 Dodge Viper ACR last October. The car will be all black with red ACR stripes, the extreme aero pack, carbon brakes, special sill decal, badge and custom car cover with the buyer's name over the door. This one will get up to 28 units assembled.

Next is the Viper GTS-R Commemorative Edition ACR. This is a tribute to the iconic white and blue 1998 Viper GTS-R GT2 championship edition. It will be pearl white with blue GTS stripes, it'll have the extreme aero pack, carbon ceramic brakes, GTS-R sill decals, American flag B-pillar stickers, ACR interior with red stitching and belts, and a numbered dash plaque. Up to 100 of these will be built.

The Viper VoooDoo II edition ACR will be modeled after the 2010 Dodge Viper VooDoo. It'll be all black outside with a graphite metallic driver's stripe (with red outline). It too will get the extreme aero pack, carbon ceramic brakes, special side sill decals, and the interior gets silver accent stitching and a dash plaque. Dodge will make up to 31 of these, the same number they made of the original.

The Viper Snakeskin Edition GTC is snakeskin green, inspired by the original 2010 Snakeskin ACR. It will have the advanced aero package, GT interior, snakeskin dash plaque and they'll make up to 25 of them.

The last one is more of a thank-you to two dealers. The Dodge Dealer Edition ACR is available exclusively through Dodge's biggest volume Viper dealers, Tomball Dodge of Tomball, Texas and Roanoke Dodge of Roanoke, Illinois. They'll be Viper white with a competition blue center stripe and a red driver stripe. There will be carbon brakes, extreme aero pack, and ACR interior with red accent stitching. There will be a numbered dash plaque, and up to 33 will be made.

Every one of these special editions will come with a customized cover with the buyer's name above the driver's door. If these special editions aren't special enough, every single 2017 Viper will be a "1 of 1" as no two can be ordered the same way in the same model year. This isn't the first time the "final Viper" has been announced, but they seem serious this time, and these special editions are a nice way to send them off.
