Hyundai has just announced pricing for the Kona subcompact crossover. The little SUV will arrive at dealers in March, starting from $20,999.
The Kona starts with a 2.0L four-cylinder that makes 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque, combined with a six-speed automatic. The base Essential trim comes well equipped, with 16-inch alloys, heated seats and a 7.0-inch touchscreen display that has Apple Carplay and Android Autos connectivity. Preferred trim adds 17-inch alloys, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, and proximity keyless entry. It also adds blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alerts to the active safety features list.
The 2.0L Luxury trim adds standard all-wheel drive, a power sunroof, and leather seats with power adjustment for the driver. It also adds autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection as well as lane keep assist.
The 1.6L comes in Trend and Ultimate trims. The 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder offers 175 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. It's connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. Both trims have 18-inch alloys and grey cladding in place of the black cladding on 2.0L models. The 1.6L Trend offers cloth seats and Ultimate has leather. Both have a head-up display and Ultimate adds an 8.0-inch touchscreen display with navigation.
The Kona also offers Hyundai's BlueLink telematics. It uses an app to allow remote start and climate control operation along with remote locking and Find My Car. From a button inside the car, it offers local search and enhanced roadside assistance. The feature comes with Ultimate trim and is included for five years from the date of purchase.
The 2018 Hyundai Kona arrives at dealers in March, but the reservation book opens tomorrow.
