Ford Designs Car Simulator for Babies That Will Help You Sleep

Designers with Ford of Spain have created the ultimate car simulator. It's designed to fully simulate being in a car, and it succeeds in fooling the crankiest of customers. This car simulator is for babies.

Ford says that new parents can lose up to 44 days of sleep in a child's first year. If you already have kids, then I'm not telling you anything new. Many parents also discover that taking small children for a drive can put them to sleep. At least as long as you're driving. That's great for babies, but that doesn't help mom or dad sleep. It just means that there are sleep deprived parents driving around at 1 am.

"After many years of talking to mums and dads, we know that parents of newborns are often desperate for just one good night’s sleep. But while a quick drive in the family car can work wonders in getting baby off to sleep, the poor old parents still have to be awake and alert at the wheel" said designer Alejandro López Bravo. The solution is the Max Motor Dreams crib. It can simulate the motion, noise, and even street lighting of your night time drive, in the comfort of your child's bedroom.

It has a speaker to simulate engine noise. The sedate engine noise of a late-night drive. It has motors to simulate the gentle swaying of the road and gradual turns. It even has LED lighting in street-light yellow that can pan around the crib just like driving under a real street light.

The Max Motor Dreams even uses a smartphone app to record your actual nighttime drive and will reproduce that using the crib.

Originally, the idea was just a marketing campaign one-off, but Ford says that they have received so many requests for it that they are considering putting the Max Motor Dreams into production.
