Volkswagen Golf R 2003-2017Change

This makes a great daily driver. It's pretty quick and fun, it looks good, it has a great sound system, android auto/apple car play, the interior is nice, the suspension is sporty but not super stiff and uncomfortable. It's good on gas for a sports car, and has lots of room for cargo. My 6'7" friend sat in the back for 8 hours pretty comfortably.

There is tons of aftermarket support for this car. You can make it look and drive however you want relatively easily.

The only complaint I have is the clutch is garbage. If you plan on adding any power at all you'll need an upgraded clutch first.

this car is excellent! it is surprisingly spacious inside and very peppy, as well as being reliable. Feels very sturdy and fun to drive. Definitely recommend!

This car is by far the best everyday/ all year round car I have ever driven. Performs well when you need her to. and its spacious and practical. interior quality is nice- engineering top notch, cornering and driving experience is excellent! as long as you have a few bucks extra to pay for gas as I only got avg 480km/tank.

Just bought mine, used. Have to say that (coming from an 07 GTI) that this car corners phenomenally better than the GTI. Doesn't feel as quick and exciting as the GTI (when accelerating), but the tight, solid cornering feeling that AWD provides is just amazing.

The VW Golf has always been the hatchback to beat, but this high performance version adds the fun factor to its versatility and capability. I have had the Golf R for two years. It seemed a little pricey at first, but once you have lived with it you realize that it is a huge step up on any other Golf model. I have had no problems whatsoever. The performance is amazing, but at the same time it is a quiet, comfortable ride. The only minor complaint I would have is that the nav system can be a little clunky compared to others I have used, but once you get used to its idiosyncrasies it's no longer a problem.

reliable, fun to drive, great in the winter. Never had any problems. One of the smoothest cars I have ever driven.

As a former MKV and MK6 GTI owner, I was a bit skeptical of how different the Golf R would be. Given that the platform of the Golf R is the AUDI TT-S, the car is dramatically different. It is very comfortable vehicle while still remaining firm and compliant on roads. I looked at many comparables (WRX/STI, Genesis 3.8, etc), and none could compare in overall fit, finish, driving manners, and especially interior quality. Sure its more expensive, but there is a reason for that. The car is an absolute GEM.

Only 750 in Canada, the R is the top of the VW range. Comfort, speed, handling and fun, anyone who knows, knows the Golf R, enough said

Loving this car.....simply as that ! I owned one before and just fell in love with it. So I knew that I had to get another. Just soooooo comfy and an amazing ride GET ONE PPL !!

drove it like a boss , used it on the track and on the rd. went to the states and back in it multiple times as well as many family outings and camping. great amount of space for such a small car. sticks to the road.

Positioned above the vaunted GTI in Volkswagen's Golf model range, the latest Golf R sticks with an all-wheel-drive configuration but ditches the naturally aspirated V6 of the previous iteration for a high-output turbo four. Though still not the quickest car in its class, the Golf R boasts tight handling, a smooth-shifting transmission and a well-trimmed interior.

The Golf R features a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four, shared with the Audi TTS, that makes a healthy 256 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque. Whereas the outgoing car came exclusively with a six-speed dual clutch gearbox, a six-speed manual transmission is now the sole option.
