2005 Nissan X-Trail

by campbell5774 on 03-12-2017
wont stop running
both mine new in 05, it now has 362000 kms. manual transmission means brakes last a lot longer, total change twice including callipers. worst part is wheel bearings in rear, had to change rear wheel bearing passenger side 5 times. not cheap to do. door handle fell off on a cold day when i went to open door. rust around back week wells around 150000km and now is pretty bad, getting rust on roof now and windshield leaks, clutch, entire exhaust system and engine are all original. only part time 4whhel drive with front wheel drive when not using 4 wheel drive a big plus, had to put in major money at 150000 and again at 300000, but although the engine and clutch seem fine the body is falling apart with rust, roads are terrible where i live and had to change most of steering around 250000. air conditioning went only two years ago, i have original radiator, . in my experience buy used around 80000 or better then again around 160000 - 240000. because as said about every 150000 you have to put major money into it

Great ride, lots of pep!
I really enjoyed this car but must sell it, unfortunately. Great pick up, gets in and out of traffic without hesitation. Comfortable, smooth ride. Nice leather interior. Adjustable seats and dual heat.

It is comfy, fun and looks great
I have enjoyed this small SUV, which is great on gas, heated seats in the winter, big sun roof in the summer. The back seats fold down for an even larger cargo than already there. It is an impressive vehicle and i am sure someone else will enjoy it just as much!

Frontier (2005-10) Transmission Issue
My truck's transmission has been compromised due to cross-contamination of coolant in the transmission fluid. Do the research, it can be avoided.

No longer a happy Nissan owner

2003 Nissan Xterra

Most reliable most practical most fun vehicle I ever owned!
I have had my X-Terra since early 2006. Just love the big bossy look of the X-Terra with its distinct roof rack. Cargo area is amazing! When I moved friends often said "you will never get all that in there!" then when I was ready to go they would ask me what I did with the rest of my stuff and I would reply with a grin. Just love this truck! You sit up high, good back support, smooth ride and relatively quiet. Dogs in the back love their 360 view when the back seats are Down. Look at the great reviews for the X-Terra!! Obviously a great vehicle.

Great car for longer term use and affordability
Owned this car for 5-6 years, haven't had a SINGLE problem with it. Great build quality, great on gas, overall an amazing car to run around in. There is a few things Nissan could have done better (i.e. looks of the car, slightly more appealing interior for younger generations), but over all a very practical and sturdy built car. Can't go wrong with Japanese!

2016 Nissan Rogue

Best vehicle I've ever owned
Seating comfort is fantastic. Have traveled across country in this vehicle and no back problems after a long day of driving.
Great Bose radio system, good navigation , and great Bluetooth connections.
Fuel mileage is always around 30mpg on everyday driving and have gotten as much as 36mpg in the mountain west.
Good storage with the different shelf positions in the back.
Only con, there is no setting for the automatic door locks when one stops and puts it in park. Car must be shut off before they will unlock other than manually hitting the button.

2016 Nissan Murano

Trim: Platinum
by Thompss on 01-26-2017
Wonderful SUV
A very sleek looking vehicle. The interior is also very nicely appointed along with "zero gravity" seats that are extremely comfortable. The 11 speakers made by BOSE are fabulous to listen to as well along with the 7 inch screen that incorporates the navigation system and the electronic hub of the suv. The room in the backseat is also ample and comes with heated seats. The safety features with 4 cameras and the alerts you get are very helpful. The sunroof is also wonderful as are the great looking rims. A few negatives for me is trying to back up and relying on the rear windows. Due to the styling which I love it is difficult to see out looking through the rear side windows. I know the camera is there but you still need to use both. Another would be the lack of rain sensing wipers. They should be something you receive on a Platinum addition.

2003 Nissan Murano

by Mtn-girl on 12-31-2016
I love this car
Ok it's OLD, however after my VW Toureg got totalled (no fault of mine) I had to grab an intermittent car and this was one I found that was suppose to be until I sorted a new car. Well, over a year later I cannot seem to tear myself from this lovely ride. Yes it's old but it had all the bells and whistles my luxury VW had plus more and it was easier to navigate. My only lamentation was it wasn't diesel which I really like. But, guess what, I am now looking to upgrade my Murano for ......another Murano. This car with 200,000 km on it is still going strong, reliable and is in excellent shape. It's kinda sad that at this age and milage it won't really be valued anymore. Truly I may even keep it for hauling wood or hardware! Highly recommend this brand

2005 Nissan X-Trail

by Pluggr76 on 12-27-2016
X-Trail. practical, generally reliable and driveable
With 250K on this 2005 a little wear and tear is unavoidable. Solid on the highway, dependable on the gravel and practical around time this has been a great little truck. Replaced the rear wheel bearings twice, the emergency brake is pretty unusable, but this thing just keeps on going. Sure footed in both FWD and 4WD, I trust my kids with this vehicle. Parts are a little harder to come by by, but still I am looking at buying a lower milage version to do it all over again.....

Time to scrap it
I don't know what planet everyone is on saying all the good things about the xtrail, but as a long-time owner I can tell you it's a terrible car. The ride is horrendously hard and contributed to my lower back issues. The wheel bearings get fried constantly, the cam sensor goes every 30-50,000km (dies on the road), rusts badly around the wheels (check for bondo), front end parts fail constantly, and the engine burns gas like a V8. At 200000km, it now needs timing chain, 5th set of brakes, exhaust, and more front end work...i'm not putting the $5,000 into keeping it going. Terrible car! In contrast our second car, jeep wrangler, at 150000km just had its first real shop visit in 7yrs.

2015 Nissan Altima

by Ross78 on 12-09-2016
Best Car
I've loved owning my Altima SV. It's loaded with features and offers superior value.

I bought mine new in January 2015, I did have a couple minor issues, the dealership was more than happy to oblige in handling these. They include: Heated Driver's Seat, element issue. Entire seat was replaced at no charge. Backup camera would lose color, was replaced at no charge.

This is hands-down the single most comfortable car I've ever owned. I adore it. I have had many cars over the years and the Altima has never hurt my back, even driving Detroit to Halifax, no complaints.

The design is gorgeous, it's so Infiniti-like and luxurious, I feel like a king. Not to mention all of the features you get, like moonroof, power seats and remote start, keyless operation and voice activated Bluetooth...not to mention that amazing fuel economy! I am currently getting 40MPG City and Hwy combined!! It's literally better fuel economy than many hybrids...wow.

It's worth the price, you really do get what you pay for and you get so much for your dollar. Own this car and love it, I'll hate to see it go when the time comes, I've never loved a car so much.

2011 Nissan Armada

by Gurban on 12-06-2016
Thinking of a Nissan? A cautionary tale.
Just out of warranty, the air conditioning stopped functioning. The problem was a leak due to corrosion in the rear A/C line, which was installed as one single piece over ten feet long. The only way to replace this part was to remove the car body from the frame at a cost of $4,000.00 at the dealership! Bad automobile design? Nissan customer service, over the phone, said it is out of warranty, end of case. When I asked to meet with the local Nissan representative, he/she refused to speak with me. Customer service? Buyer beware.

Reliable Ride - Well Maintained
Car originally purchased with 16,000kms, 1 prior owner and extended warranty package. Majority of maintenance done by Nissan dealership. Average annual mileage approx. 21,000 kms primarily travelling back/forth to work in town and odd road trips.
Been reliable vehicle with no significant mechanical problems - typical wear and tear repairs/replacements. 6,000 km oil change schedule maintained. Any repairs addressed immediately.
Bike hitch on back with limited use.
When washing car in driveway, often get comments by those passing by on good condition of car.

Comfortable - question reliability
For a 7 seater, agile handling in the city and comfortable highway cruiser. Good power and features. Mostly highway driven with 51000 kms and very well maintained. At 3 years and 2.5 months by far our single most expensive repair at $1400 for new AC lines at only 38months! Driven in just 2 Toronto winters (garaged last year). Dealer and Nissan Canada offered nothing. Response, "unfortunately" warranty is over. Add unresolved recalls and wonky passenger side airbag detection. Creaking suspension and poor paint/chrome quality. Have owned quite a number of new cars and several brands over 3 decades. By stark contrast Pathfinder is not aging well. First and last Nissan for this family.

You buy and drive a Z, because you know what a Z is. This is not for someone that wants the flavor of the season. This is a special breed of sports car.

Rides low and hard in the city, but on the highway, nothing is smoother and more comfortable. I had to sell mine, but I know my next sports car will be another one

WORST CAR EVER OWNED
Transmission went on me at about 40km they claim its great on gas which gets about 9litre/100km i was getting 10.5 at best. The AWD is completely useless i don't think it was ever used once. I hated this car i bought it brand new. The car one day would rev at 6000rpm and wouldn't let me go past 35km i had to pull over and turn my car on and off to reset it. and this happened several times b4 they gave me a new transmission at village nissan. Which i should mention is one of the worst dealership experiences i've ever encountered. My 2nd transmission started acting up again so i just said forget it traded it in lost 8000$ on it and moved on to a RDX which is a v6 but i'm getting 11.3L / 100km. If you were smart stay far away from nissans the resale value is atrocious and the car is just plain horrible. First and only experience ever with a nissan i don't care how good they claim the cars will get.
