Going into 2013, Subaru has decided to keep the WRX and WRX STI the same as the previous year, the only changes being in paint choices.
Power comes from two engines and two transmissions, one for each major trim level:
- 2.5L DOHC turbocharged 4-cylinder SUBARU BOXER engine producing 265 hp and 244 lb-ft of torque mated to a 5-speed manual transmission in the WRX
- 2.5L DOHC turbocharged 4-cylinder SUBARU BOXER engine producing 305 hp and 290 lb-ft of torque mated to a 6-speed manual transmission in the STI
Two body styles are available - sedan and 5-door hatchback - and trims include WRX, WRX Limited Package, WRX STI, and WRX STI Sport-tech Package.

WRX STI adds high-pressure turbocharged 2.5L 4-cylinder high-performance SUBARU BOXER producing 305 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque, 6-speed manual transmission, helical limited-slip front differential, TORSEN limited-slip rear differential, multi-mode Driver Controlled Centre Differential (DCCD), multi-mode Vehicle Dynamics Control system and Traction Control System, Brembo high-performance brake system, STI branded
Super Sport anti-lock braking system, larger brakes, 18-inch Enkei cast aluminum alloy wheels with charcoal coating, Dunlop SP600 Summer Performance tires, large roofline rear spoiler with integrated brake light (5-door), high-profile rear spoiler (4-door), Black Alcantara seats with Anthracite Black leather side bolsters, red stitching and STI embroidered seatbacks, and headlight surround with aluminum finish.
