2007 Nissan Armada

For 2007, the Nissan Armada receives a horsepower boost from 305 to 317 hp. There is a single trim line, the LE, which now includes a DVD entertainment system as standard equipment; the available Technology Package adds 18-inch chrome-clad wheels.

Based on the Nissan Titan pickup truck, the massive Armada is Nissan’s largest SUV; a version is also sold by Infiniti as the QX56. Power is from a 5.6-litre V8 with five-speed automatic transmission; it also features All Mode four-wheel drive with two-speed electronic transfer case, stability and traction control, and four-wheel limited-slip system.

Features include 18-inch alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, electronic brake force distribution and brake assist, roof rack with crossbars, running boards, power-folding auto-dimming heated mirrors with turn signals and puddle lights, power sunroof, automatic headlamps, fog lights, power liftgate, rear parking assist, tire pressure monitoring system, dual-zone automatic climate control, power flip-out quarter windows, garage door opener, speed-sensitive variable intermittent wipers, auto-dimming rearview mirror, power-adjustable pedals, eight-way driver and six-way passenger power seat adjuster, heated leather seats, second-row captain’s chairs, third-row 60/40 fold-flat bench seat, rear-seat DVD entertainment system and six-CD/MP3 stereo.

An available $3,800 Technology Package adds navigation system, information centre, rearview monitor and 18-inch chrome-clad wheels.

The Armada is a huge vehicle, although its steering and handling are much sharper and more precise than you’d expect for its size. Its thirsty powerplant is even more potent than before, and adds to the illusion of a smaller vehicle, since it hauls this beast around admirably. Its full-length boxed high-steel frame, independent rear suspension and towing capacity make this a heavy-duty hauler but with a luxury interior that coddles in comfort.
