After receiving a new engine and transmission last year, the Equus continues on completely unchanged for 2013.
The Equus is Hyundai’s flagship sedan. Available at a limited number of dealers in specific cities, the Equus includes “concierge service,” in which the dealer will pick up the car when servicing is required and leave a loaner vehicle, and an iPad with Equus application that also has the owner’s manual in the device.
Based on a lengthened version of the Hyundai Genesis platform, the Equus uses a direct-injection 5.0-litre V8 with eight-speed automatic transmission. Two trim lines are available.
Features on the Signature include 19-inch chrome alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, driver’s knee airbag, lane departure warning system, electronic parking brake with hold function, pushbutton start, power-folding mirrors with puddle lamps, twelve-way power driver’s seat with extendable cushion, massage function and memory, ten-way power passenger seat, heated leather seats, 60/40 split power-adjustable rear seats, Bluetooth connectivity, heated steering wheel, windshield wiper de-icer, rear parking assist, backup camera, fog lights, rain-sensing wipers, illuminated door sills, Alcantara suede headliner, active front head restraints, navigation system, Lexicon 7.1 surround sound system with 17 speakers, iPod interface, rear power sunshade, air suspension, tire pressure monitoring system, power sunroof, real wood interior trim, adaptive xenon headlamps, LED turn signals, leather-wrapped front dash, and adaptive cruise control.
The Ultimate adds power trunk lid, ventilated front seats, front wide-view camera, rear-seat vanity mirror, two-passenger “VIP” seating with right-side power lumbar, leg support and Shiatsu massage, rear monitor screen, power-adjustable rear head restraints, and cooled storage box.
