2021 Ford Transit Cargo Van

Issue:
On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the vehicle is reversing.

Safety Risk:
A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions:
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the SYNC software.

Issue:
On a small number of vehicles modified by Crew Chief Conversions, a fuel hose on the generator may not be properly secured and could leak fuel.
Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with an Onan QG 2800i generator.

Safety Risk:
A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire.

Corrective Actions:
Crew Chief Conversions will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a Cummins authorized service center to inspect the fuel hose between the generator fuel filter and injection pump module. The fuel hose and clamps will be replaced, if necessary. To reduce the safety risk, Crew Chief Conversions advises that you should not use the generator until the recall inspection is completed.

Issue:
On certain vehicles, the shift cable may detach from the transmission. This could cause the transmission not to shift gears when the shifter is moved. As a result, the transmission could be in a different gear than the gear shifter indicates. If a driver attempts to exit the vehicle while the transmission is not in Park, and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle could move suddenly.

Safety Risk:
Sudden and unexpected movement of the vehicle could increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions:
Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the transmission shifter cable bushing and install a protective service cap. Ford advises that you should apply the parking brake each time the vehicle is parked.

Issue:
On certain vehicles, the front passenger seat belt assembly may contain a defective automatic locking retractor (ALR). As a result, the seat belt may not properly lock to secure a child seat.

Safety Risk:
A seat belt that is not properly locked could prevent a child seat from being properly secured, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Corrective Actions:
Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the seat belt. It will be replaced, if necessary.
