2020 Dodge Grand Caravan

History/Overview

The Dodge Grand Caravan is Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' mainstream minivan, a vehicle aimed at families on a budget. This is an old design that debuted in 2008 and has enjoyed a couple of minor refreshes since then.

What's New / Key Changes from Last Year

The news for 2020 is limited to the SXT trim, which adds second-row stow-and-go seats, an in-floor storage bin, power driver's seat and black interior with cranberry seat stitching as standard features. Also new to SXT is a Blacktop option package.

Available Trims

Dodge Grand Caravan trims are Canada Value Package (CVP), SXT, SXT Premium Plus, Crew, Crew Plus and GT trims. All use a 3.6L V6 engine, a six-speed transmission and front-wheel drive.

Standard Features

Canada Value Package standard features include 17-inch steel wheels with covers, heated side mirrors, a four-speaker stereo, air conditioning with dual-zone manual climate control, cruise control, power front windows, power door locks with keyless entry and tilt-and-telescopic steering column.

SXT adds stow-and-go second-row bucket seats, in-floor storage bin and an eight-way power driver's seat.

SXT Premium Plus adds power second-row and third-row quarter windows, tri-zone manual climate control, 17-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, 10-way driver's seat with lumbar, tailgate seating, leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift lever, leatherette upholstery and a black headliner and overhead console.

Crew trim brings chrome side mouldings and roof rack, a six-speaker stereo, three-zone automatic climate control and an electronic vehicle information centre.

Crew Plus gains a 6.5-inch touchscreen stereo, satellite radio, heated front seats, a power front passenger seat, perforated leather upholstery, power sliding side doors and power tailgate, ambient interior lighting with rear reading lights and a garage door opener.

Finally, GT trim adds a compact spare tire, remote engine start, security alarm, automatic on/off headlights, nine-speaker stereo, heated steering wheel and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Key Options

Canada Value Package models can be optioned with tri-zone climate control.

SXT gets a long list of extras, with notables being a DVD entertainment system, rear power windows, rear park assist, power sliding doors and tailgate, and a trailer towing package.

Crew offers a package with a 6.5-inch touchscreen and auto-dimming rearview mirror, satellite radio, 115-volt power outlet and a 40GB hard drive. A driver convenience group brings heated front seats and heated steering wheel, among other things. Crew Plus can add a safety sphere group with automatic headlights, blind spot monitoring and rear park assist.

Fuel Economy

Dodge's fuel consumption estimates for the Grand Caravan are 13.7/9.4 L/100 km (city/highway).

Competition

Dodge's minivan competitors are all more modern vehicles. Those include the Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna and Kia Sedona. There's also the Chrysler Pacifica, another Fiat Chrysler product, which uses the same engine as the Dodge but gets a nine-speed automatic.
