The eAssist mild-hybrid system has been dropped in favour of an idle-stop system for the base 2.5-litre four-cylinder. Lastly, upgrades to OnStar enables for lightning-quick 4G LTE internet provided though a built-in WiFi hotspot. The Impala is built on the same platform as the Buick LaCrosse and Cadillac XTS, and while it’s the most affordable of the three, arguably, it’s the Chevy that’s the looker of the bunch. Much the same can be said about its interior: its spacious cabin is finished in top-notch materials that trumps the Dodge Charger and gives the Chrysler 300 a run for its money. The Impala can be had with either a 2.5L DOHC four-cylinder engine with idle-stop function, or a 3.6L V6 engine. All engines are mated to one of two six-speed automatic transmissions. Trim levels are LS (1LS), LT (1LT, 2LT), and LTZ (1LZ, 2LZ). Features on the 1LS include 18-inch steel wheels, OnStar with 4G LTE and WiFi hotspot, alarm, body-colour door handles, automatic headlights, body-colour power heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, electronic single-zone air conditioning, air filtration, cruise control, floor mats, driver information centre, power locks, remote keyless entry, tilt/telescopic steering wheel with Bluetooth/cruise/audio controls, power windows with driver auto-up/down and auto-down for all other windows, front passenger seat power height adjuster, eight-way power driver seat, premium cloth seating surfaces, 60/40 split/fold rear seat with centre armrest, six-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio with 4.2-inch screen and auxiliary input, Bluetooth phone connectivity, satellite radio, and centre console USB outlet. LS Convenience Package adds rear park assist, adjustable rear head restraints, and trunk cargo net. Key options include remote start and an engine block heater. 1LT and 2LT models feature the 2.5-litre and 3.6-litre V6 motors respectively. Equipment levels build on LS and add dual exhaust (hidden), 18-inch aluminum wheels, automatic dual-zone climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, four-way power passenger seat, premium cloth/leatherette seating surfaces, Bluetooth audio streaming, Chevrolet MyLink eight-inch infotainment system with behind-screen storage, SD card slot, and three additional USB ports. LT Convenience Package adds rear park assist, reverse camera, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, remote start, integrated garage door opener, premium carpeted floor mats, carpeted trunk mat. Appearance Package adds body-colour grille surround, chrome mirror caps, and a rear spoiler. Advanced Safety Package adds forward collision alert, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and blind spot monitoring. Premium Audio & Sports Wheel Package adds 19-inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler, interior ambient lighting, 120-volt power outlet, and 11-speaker Bose stereo system. Premium Seating Package adds heated front seats, eight-way power front passenger seat, suede-effect microfibre upholstery, and trunk cargo convenience net. Navigation Package adds navigation, and proximity key with push-button start. Key options include power sunroof, and an engine block heater. 1LZ and 2LZ models feature the 2.5-litre and 3.6-litre V6 motors respectively. Equipment levels build on 1LT and 2LT, adding forward collision alert, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, side blind zone alert, visible dual exhaust, remote starter, chrome door handles, LED daytime running lights, HID headlights, bright chrome window surround, park assist, backup camera, 19-inch aluminum wheels, proximity key with push-button start, cargo net, eight-way power passenger seat, heated front seats, and leather upholstery. The Comfort & Convenience Package adds ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, power tilt and telescoping steering column, driver memory, integrated garage door opener, premium floor mats, carpeted trunk map, auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated power-adjustable mirror with integrated turn signals and chrome caps, power sliding sunroof. The Premium Audio Package adds 11-speaker Bose sound system and 120-volt power outlet. Key options include navigation, 20-inch wheels, and an engine block heater. The 2LZ can also be equipped with full-range radar cruise control with collision mitigation.
