History/Overview

The Chevrolet Corvette hardly needs an introduction as one of North America’s best-known sports cars. This is the fourth year for the eighth-generation ‘Vette, which was introduced in 2020 with the model’s first-ever mid-engine layout.

What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year

For 2023, the Z06 high-performance package returns to the Corvette lineup, powered by what Chevy says is the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 ever installed in a production car.

Available Trims

Chevrolet offers the Corvette in 1LT, 2LT and 3LT with its standard 6.2L V8, and in 1LZ, 2LZ and 3LZ with the Z06’s more powerful engine. An eight-speed dual-clutch transmission is standard across the lineup. You can also choose from coupe and convertible body styles.

Standard Features

Corvette 1LT comes with 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, LED headlights, digital gauges, power seats, 10-speaker audio, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, dual-zone A/C, passive keyless entry, leather upholstery, power steering wheel adjustments, and rear park assist.

2LT trim adds power-folding side mirrors with driver’s side auto dimming, a 14-speaker stereo, navigation, front and rear cameras, a head-up display, heated steering wheel, sport seats with lumbar, a camera-based rearview mirror, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, a garage door remote, and wireless phone charging.

3LT’s additions include an extended leather interior with Nappa seats, microfiber interior trim, and upgraded seats with carbon fibre trim.

The Z06 gets 20-inch front/21-inch rear wheels, a head-up display, upgraded cooling system and brakes, and magnetic ride control. 2LZ and 3LZ models gain front and rear cameras, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a camera-based rearview mirror.

Key Options

A Z51 package brings Brembo brakes, performance suspension and exhaust, a limited-slip differential, and high-performance tires.

For 3LT models, a 70th Anniversary package consists mostly of cosmetic tweaks to celebrate the Corvette’s seven decades on the market.

The Z06 offers a Z07 performance package with track-oriented aerodynamic tweaks, an upgraded suspension, high-performance tires, and carbon ceramic brakes.

Fuel Economy

As of this writing, Chevrolet had only published fuel consumption estimates for the base Corvette’s 6.2L engine, which is rated for 15.0/9.8 L/100 km (city/highway). We’ll update this article when the Z06’s estimates are revealed.

Competition

The Corvette’s primary competitors include the Audi R8, Jaguar F-Type, Acura NSX, and Porsche 911. The ‘Vette can also keep up with even more exotic British and Italian models, but for far less money.
