History/Overview
Introduced in 2020, the CT4 is Cadillac’s latest attempt to break the German auto industry’s chokehold on the compact luxury sedan segment. This car replaced the ATS as Caddy’s entry-level four-door model.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2022, Cadillac has added wireless phone charging to the CT4’s list of standard features. Also new this year is the CT4-V Blackwing, a high-performance model that we’ve covered in a separate buyer’s guide entry.
Available Trims
The Cadillac CT4’s offerings begin with Luxury trim. From there, you can move either to Sport or Premium Luxury packages, both of which build directly on Luxury trim. Entry-level power is from a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine, which can be upgraded to a 2.7L in Premium Luxury. Rear-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission are standard across the range, and you can add AWD to any CT4 configuration.
Standard Features
CT4 Luxury comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, heated front seats and steering wheel, LED headlights and taillights, two-way front-seat lumbar, eight-speaker audio, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, dual-zone A/C, passive keyless entry, and leatherette upholstery.
Safety items include forward collision avoidance, safety alert seat, and pedestrian detection/braking.
Sport and Premium Luxury get 18-inch wheels, auto on/off headlights, auto-dimming driver’s side and rearview mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, four-way lumbar, ambient lighting, and rear parking sensors.
Premium Luxury also gets ventilated front seats, and leather upholstery.
Key Options
Sport and Premium Luxury trims can add a driver assist pack (adaptive cruise and reverse automatic braking; a driver awareness bundle (blind spot monitoring, lane change alert, lane departure warning/lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams); and a tech package (digital gauges and a head-up display).
All three trims offer a navigation pack that includes a Bose stereo.
Luxury models can add a sun and sound pack of a 14-speaker stereo and sunroof.
Fuel Economy
Cadillac’s fuel consumption estimates for the CT4 are 10.2/7.0 L/100 km (city/highway) for 2.0L/RWD models, and 11.0/7.6 L/100 km for cars with the 2.7L motor and RWD. In AWD cars, ratings are 10.5/7.6 L/100 km for the 2.0L and 11.4/8.2 L/100 km with the 2.7L engine.
Competition
As we alluded to up top, the CT4’s key competitors are small German cars like the BMW 2 Series, Audi A3, and Mercedes-Benz CLA- and A-Class. Another car to cross-shop with the CT4 is the Acura ILX.
