NEW FOR 2015:
-Redesigned model
The A3 is dead, long live the A3! The smallest vehicle in Audi's North American lineup gets a full redesign for 2015, transforming the previous hatchback into a sedan and cabriolet bodystyles. It's a move that will annoy many, but please many more; despite their added practicality, hatches are still viewed as less upscale than sedans.
The range includes four engines: a 1.8L turbocharged gasoline four-cylinder (170 hp/199 lb-ft of torque) is used in the 1.8TFSI front-drive sedan; the 2.0 TFSI quattro sedan and cabriolet share a 2.0L turbo-four good for 220 hp and 258 lb-ft. A pumped-up version of the 2.0L is used in the S3 quattro, where it makes 290 hp and 280 lb-ft. Finally, the 2.0 TDI is a front-driver power by a diesel four-cylinder that makes 150 hp and 236 lb-ft.
Trim levels for 1.8 TFSI models are Komfort and Progressiv; 2.0 TFSI and TDI models can be had in Komfort, Progressiv or Technik trims; and the S3 comes in Progressiv or Technik guise.
Standard features in the A3 1.8 and 2.0 TFSI Komfort include 17-inch alloy wheels, leather seats, panoramic sunroof, MMI radio with 5.8-inch colour display, satellite radio, power driver's seat with power lumbar, alarm, pre-sense basic, Bluetooth, automatic climate control, automatic headlights and wipers, monochrome driver information system, heated front seats, and three-spoke multi-function steering wheel.
Progressiv trim adds 18-inch wheels, power front passenger seat, interior storage package, aluminum interior trim, high-gloss exterior window surrounds, Audi music interface, aluminum door sills and mistral inlays, Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass, and interior LED lighting.
In 2.0 TFSI models, Technik trim adds navigation, backup camera, colour driver information system, intelligent keyless entry, Audi side assist, upgraded stereo, and front and rear park assist.
TDI models come with the same standard features in all three trim levels.
The S3 Progressiv gets the same kit as 2.0 TFSI and TDI cars, and adds front passenger lumbar, heated side mirrors, sport suspension, aluminum pedals, and Audi Drive Select.
Technik adds the same features to the S3 as in A3 models.
