Volvo Recalls Incorrectly Manufactured Seatbelts

Volvo Canada is asking the owners of more than 5,000 late model cars and crossovers to bring their cars back to the dealer to inspect seatbelts that may have been improperly manufactured.

Transport Canada's recall notice says Volvo -- the company that invented the three-point seatbelt -- discovered that in S60, V60, S90, XC60 and XC90 models, the stud holding the front passenger seatbelt buckle to the seat structure "may not have been punched" correctly during manufacturing and could separate, leaving the seat's occupant unrestrained in a crash.

Volvo says its dealers will inspect the front passenger seatbelt buckle stud and replace the buckle as necessary.
