Mazda will reveal its all-new CX-4 crossover April 25, during the Beijing auto show's media preview.
Not that this car is any big surprise; it's been rattling around the rumour mill for months, especially following Mazda's creation of the Koeru concept; even based on the single CX-4 teaser image Mazda has given us, it's pretty clear this and the Koeru are, more or less, the same car.
The Koeru -- and by extension, the CX-4 -- is a crossover that Mazda says emphasizes the "sport" in sport utility, with a rakish roofline that brings to mind something like the BMW X4.
Mazda says the CX-4 will have a "striking" presence that will set it apart from other SUVs, and is a "new type of crossover designed to help customers live more creative lives."
We'll have to wait for the reveal to learn technical details, but we're curious to see if the CX-4 will share the new CX-9's turbocharged four-cylinder engine, at least as an option; it'd be nice to see a non-upscale automaker venture into performance crossover territory to create a vehicle that could hold its own against Bimmer's X4 at a lower price point.
