Teen Totals Lamborghini After Going for Joyride

A 13-year-old in West Vancouver has taken a joy ride in a Lamborghini that did not end the way they planned, though it probably ended better than anyone else could have hoped.

West Vancouver Police announced the crash, which happened on March 25, earlier this week. Officers responding to reports of a single-vehicle crash on the Trans Canada Highway found a Lamborghini Huracan in the ditch but no driver or passenger.

“Officers began an exhaustive search to ensure the well-being of the driver and any passengers,” said Sergeant Chris Bigland. The police got help from the owner of the vehicle and were quickly able to find the driver and passenger.

That's when they discovered two surprises: that the Lamborghini driver was a 13-year-old and that the child and their passenger were uninjured despite heavy damage to the vehicle.

"The youth and a friend decided to take the car for a drive but were unable to control the car in the dark and rainy conditions. While significant property damage has been done, we are grateful that no one was hurt in the collision," said Bigland.

The young driver faces big charges. The child has been charged with speeding, driving without due care, failure to remain at the scene of a collision, and, of course, driving without a license. If convicted, fines could hit $1,500, and it could mean up to 22 points on the driver's license — if they ever try to get one.
