2025 Infiniti QX80 is Bigger, More Luxurious, and More Expensive

After nearly 15 years of the old model, Infiniti has just launched an all-new version of its flagship vehicle. The 2025 Infiniti QX80 full-size SUV looks completely different yet surprisingly similar to the model it replaces, but underneath, it is loaded with better tech, new gadgets, and more luxury touches.

Infiniti Design boss Alfonso Albaisa describes the shape as "artistry in motion." It's the first Infiniti designed under that banner, and it won't be the last. The new QX80 stays very close to the QX Monograph concept, with a sleek nose, bamboo forest-inspired grille, and plenty of glass.

The new three-row cabin offers more space for people and cargo and is covered in a herd's worth of hides. The dashboard, doors, centre console, and seats are all covered in leather that looks warm and inviting. On the top-spec Autograph trim, the leather will be semi-aniline, a more durable and higher-quality treatment. Open-pore wood trim will also be available, along with 64-colour ambient lighting.

Overall length is essentially unchanged, but the new QX is around a foot wider than the prior generation. To help fill that space, Infiniti has added twin 14.3-inch displays. The configurable dashboard display can be controlled by a jog wheel on the steering wheel. The same control can also be used to operate the centre touchscreen, allowing the driver to keep their hands on the wheel.

A third screen is dedicated to the HVAC system. A 9.0-inch screen includes haptic feedback to help the driver know when they've made an adjustment without looking down. Google built-in is standard, which means Google Maps and more apps from the Google Play store are available. It will still have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for those who prefer to use their devices.

To help drivers deal with the extra width, Infiniti has added a new feature called Front Wide View. This uses cameras in the nose to display a 170-degree field of vision on both of the big dashboard screens. Infiniti says it will let drivers see past parked cars and around tight corners. Invisible Hood View offers a similar trick, displaying what's directly in front of the QX through some clever camera trickery. You can use all of the cameras to create photos or videos in a Journey Diary and use the in-car camera to send social media selfies.

Infiniti is proud enough of the new audio system that it got its own teaser earlier this month. The QX80 gets a Klipsch system, the first in its class, with 14 speakers and 600 watts of power. Sensory and Autograph trims boost the experience to 24 speakers and 1,200 watts, with technology that actively masks background noise, four speakers in the headliner, and headrest surround speakers for driver and front passenger. More than just playing music, those headrest speakers can let the driver make a phone call while the rest of the passengers listen to music.

The old QX's V8 is gone, replaced by a 3.5L twin-turbo V6. It makes 450 hp and 515 lb-ft of torque, figures that eclipse the old model. It uses a nine-speed automatic with a much wider gear range and will come standard with four-wheel drive. The QX80 will still be able to tow, with a maximum trailer capacity of 8,500 lbs.

Like its competitors at Lexus, the QX80 has long been built on serious off-road bones, and this one is no different. The new SUV still has a full frame underneath, now 57 per cent stiffer than before. An available air suspension can drop 7 cm for access or climb 6 cm for more off-road clearance and it works with the Dynamic Digital Suspension to control body roll, enhance ride quality, and ensure off-road traction.

The driver assistance suite is extensive and includes Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Intervention, and Lane Departure Prevention. The blind spot warning system will work with trailers up to 33 feet long. The QX80 will also come with two levels of advanced driver assistance: ProPilot Assist 1.1, which combines adaptive cruise control with lane centring, and the 2.1 version, which lets drivers take their hands off the wheel during some highway driving situations.

An all-new QX80 means an all-new price, and the 2025 Infiniti QX80 pushes the brand well through the six-figure mark for the first time. The base Luxe model starts from $104,995, the Sensory is $113,995, and the Autograph starts from $124,995 plus freight and fees. The new QX80 is set to arrive at dealers in Canada this summer.
