The fourth electric Cadillac will be called the Optiq. The brand's announcement of the compact luxury crossover doesn't come with many details, only debuting with a pair of photos.
The Optiq has more conventional styling than Cadillac's other EVs. We see a lot of design cues from the current Cadillac XT4 and XT5 here, rather than the next-gen styling of the Cadillac Lyriq and Celestiq.
Cadillac said that the Optiq will be the entry point in the company's electric lineup, but gave us little else in the way of details. Fortunately, thanks to documents released by the Chinese government (which sounds much more ominous than it is) tell us a bit more than GM was ready to reveal.
The documents reveal the size of the Optiq, or at least what to expect. The dimensions put the crossover at 4,822 mm long, 1,912 mm wide, and 1,642 mm tall, making it slightly larger than the Cadillac XT5 and 172 mm shorter than the Cadillac Lyriq.
Those leaked dimensions are also right on with the Chevrolet Blazer EV, a vehicle that likely shares the same platform. We anticipate the Cadillac offering range and power figures more fitting of the brand's prestige, but the Blazer EV offers up to 557 hp in SS trim and up to 515 km of range in rear-drive LT and RS models.
Cadillac says that the Optiq will have "spirited driving dynamics [that] are designed to appeal to global luxury customers." More details about the new EV, including pricing, features, and range, will be announced next year.
