Lexus has just announced pricing for the first-ever plug-in hybrid version of its RX crossover. The 2024 Lexus RX 450h+ will hit dealers in just one trim level, with a starting price over $89,000.
The 2024 RX 450h+ is powered by two electric motors: one each in the front and back. An 18.1-kWh lithium-ion battery delivers an estimated 60 km of all-electric range. The hybrid system employs a 2.5L four-cylinder gas engine, with a combined output (Lexus doesn't provide an electric-only figure) of 302 hp, which is enough for a 0–100 km/h run of 6.2 seconds. The estimated fuel economy for the model is 6.5 L/100 km city, 7.1 highway, and 6.7 combined in hybrid operation, and 2.8 Le/100 km combined in electric-only mode. Lexus says that the PHEV can charge up in around 2.5 hours using a Level 2 plug and the 6.6-kW onboard charge system.
Lexus will only offer one trim level of the RX 450h+ in Canada, and that's the fully-loaded Executive grade. The trim comes with features like a 21-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, semi-aniline leather, heated and ventilated seats, and 64-colour ambient lighting. The PHEV RX will also get LED headlights with an adaptive high-beam system that avoids dazzling oncoming traffic.
Tech features include Advanced Park self-parking as standard with parallel and perpendicular parking help, ultrasonic sensors, and surround view cameras; Traffic Jam Assist low-speed start, stop, and steering; and a head-up display. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are included and run on the 14-inch centre touchscreen. The Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is also standard and includes obstacle evasion steering and braking assist, pre-collision warning and mitigation, lane-departure alert, lane tracing, and adaptive cruise with curve speed management.
The 2024 Lexus RX 450h+ Executive is on sale now at dealers across Canada. The starting price is $89,155 including destination, but before sales tax and other fees.
