Special Chevrolet Colorados for Street and Mud

Chevrolet has just announced a pair of new special-edition Colorado pickups. One for off-road, and one for on.

The first is the Z71 Trail Runner. It takes the standard Colorado Z71's off-road package and adds some bits from the even-more-hardcore ZR2. That means the Z71's off-road-tuned suspension, automatic-locking rear differential, and 17-inch wheels. Then Chevy adds the front and mid-body skid plates from the ZR2. It also gets that truck's rocker protection from rocks and impacts. The Trail Runner also has the ZR2's Goodyear Duratrac tires.

The other new truck is the Colorado RST. It's in the same mould as the RST Tahoe and Suburban. That means a monochromatic exterior package with black beltline trim and black body side mouldings. The RST also gets black badges including the bowtie and Colorado logos. The RST is also the first Colorado to get 20-inch wheels – finished in, you guessed it, black. The RST is offered on LT trim trucks.

Both special edition trucks also get the new Chevrolet lettered grille we first saw on the ZR2 Bison. The letters are cut out to allow for more airflow. If you want that grille on your not-special-edition Colorado, it's available as an accessory for $395.

The new trucks will be available for the 2019 model year with pricing to follow.
