AJAC Awards 2018 Green Car, Utility of the Year

The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada has just announced its 2018 Canadian Green Car and Green Utility Vehicle of the Year awards at the Vancouver International Auto Show.

The AJAC Green Car Awards are voted on by journalists across the country. Eligible cars are judged for fuel efficiency based on the vehicle's size, powertrain, and purpose. Vehicles were tested throughout 2017 by members and then scored using AJAC's Canadian Car of the Year program. After that, the extra green criteria are tabulated.

The finalists for 2018 Canadian Green Car of the Year were the Chevrolet Bolt EV, Hyundai Ioniq Electric, and Volkswagen e-Golf. Taking top spot was the Chevrolet Bolt EV. The compact electric Bolt offers an impressive 383 km range on a full charge.

For 2018 Canadian Green Utility Vehicle of the Year, the finalists were the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, Kia Niro, and Subaru Crosstrek. The winner was the Niro. The compact hybrid crossover offers seating for five with a competitive 538L of cargo space and estimated fuel economy of 4.5 L/100 km in the city.
