Kia Teases New Performance Car on the Nurburgring

Kia is building a new performance car, and to show us they're serious about this performance, it's been to Germany's famed Nurburgring racetrack.

Every serious performance car in the last decade or so has gone to the 'Ring, a 21 km track with every sort of turn, hill, bend, and straight imaginable. It's where car companies go when they want to really show that they can develop a suspension. Kia is no different, and so they're doing a series of videos and a new website to show off the new car before launch.

For now, there is just one video posted on thecurveahead.net, but it's a good one. It doesn't show the car, just the dashboard, the track, and a little bit of the front wheels. That dashboard reads speeds over 240 km/h, showing that whatever the newest Kia is, it can really move. The engine sound and cornering speeds seem to back that up.

Right now, the website shows only that video, a countdown to the full reveal on January 8th, 2017, and the bold claim that "a new paradigm of performance beckons in the distance", with the promise of another video coming soon. If you look closely at the background, you can see the Kia GT and GT4 Stinger concepts, hinting that one of those is the car in the video. We're looking forward to seeing more of the lap, and more of the first high-performance car from Kia.
