Volvo XC60 2010-2013Change

Very sporty car - fast and steady. I find the steering feel to be a bit annoying - floaty and isolated, but minor day-to-day. It's a solid and very comfortable car. It's had a few minor repair issues - the hood wouldn't open (two service visits) and the sunroof wouldn't close. Fuel economy is mediocre, but that may be the price of having a solid machine with this much power. If it really bothers you, buy something else. It does everything else well.

Here is what has happened in only 6 years.

rear differential ($11000)- no assistance from Volvo- only 150000km
fuel mixing sensor ($500)
front wheel bearing ($460)
cracked rear coil springs (never been off paved road) ($500)
cracked steering wheel (2+ weeks to get proper replacement)
eats headlight bulbs
burnt out position bulb - next to impossible to service- bulb is $100
heater/ac fan has been noisy since day 1
VOLVO DID RECALL CAR TWICE TO REPLACE FRONT DECAL! ha,ha

We are a Volvo for Life family and have loved this ride since purchased. It hands exceptionally well in Summer and Winter driving, even with only all seasons on it through the Winter. Interior styling is exceptional and very comfortable. it is an AWD race SUV!

Volvo owner since 2005. XC60 is an excellent and comfortable car like ride. Great safety features, truly relied on it since I have young children.

I was looking at different vehicles, when I stumbled into this one. It has everything you could want. It has the space of a sport utility but drives like a car. It is incredibly comfortable & great design features. It is the best all round car I have owned. The R version is a rocket...

XC60 is a great vehicle to drive in the city or long trips. The panoramic sunroof adds a great experience to enjoy Summer landscapes or the sky.

Safety is also an adjective for this great vehicle, a requirement for us, persons that love their family.

It's no wonder these Volvos are so popular. The interior is very comfortable and quiet. Lots of power when needed. Cargo and passenger room is very good.

Prior to purchasing the XC60 I had looked at the Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Mercedes GLK. I eliminated the Q5 without a test drive owing to the layout of the cargo area. The Mercedes was rather cramped, but the BMW was a strong second to the Volvo. The BMW's handling was a bit crisper than the Volvo's but the styling lacks character. Also, the BMW's repair costs [including those run flat tires] are astronomical after the warantee period.

I have never regretted purchasing the Volvo. It had been completely trouble free, has performed well, is roomy, and has been extremely comfortable both in town, on the way to the cottage, and on road trips. The one drawback in our cold climate is the lack of a heated steering wheel which I heard is going to be offered in the 2014 models. I have seen comments about fuel consumption and agree that consumption is higher than a sedan and certain competitors. However, it does use regular fuel. When I compared the fuel cost to the BMW X3 [my #2 choice], the cost of fuel was similar to the BMW. Overall, I would recommend the XC60 to anyone who is looking at this type of vehicle.

Good - Sharp looking, good handling, very quick, great sound system, very good AWD system, heated seats front and rear - great idea, very quiet, love the safety systems-BLISS, Back up camera, City Safety, Cruise, Lane detection.
Not so good - fuel consumption is not even close to ratings (75%) -and we don't drive hard, NAV system is a joke- my $199 Garmin is superior, Bluetooth is finicky, sunroof when open is very loud at all speeds.
For the money, (60K+) the not so good things should be better thought out. They need to address the first 3 (- not so good issues) and I could live with the last one.

The Volvo XC60 is by far the best car i have ever owned, it is fuel efficent and most defiantly safe.

There are only two things I don't like about this car. The fuel economy is not good. I get 11.5l/100km. I wasn't expecting great economy given the powerful 3L turbo engine but I was a bit surprised at how much it costs me to drive it. The second thing I don't like is the control panel for the phone/audio etc. The center panel is a beautiful design but all the buttons are too small and it is hard to find the button you are looking for without looking away from the road. Given Volvo's reputation for safety I was dissapointed by this as I think it is dangerous to shift your focus away from the road to change the radio station or any settings.

Other than that though, it is a great car. Super comfortable. Great ride. Very quick accelleration which is super handy when passing. Good storage space. We have also had a good experience so far with our Volvo dealer for service etc. Overall I would recommend this car to young families looking for a luxury oriented family car.
