1998 Nissan Maxima

by TorontoDoug on 10-22-2012
1998 Nissan Maxima
Loved this car the day I bought it. It had everything right off the lot. excellent handling and brakes. The V6 accelerated the vehicle with ease. Very enjoyable car to drive in the city and on the highway. Comfortable for long road trips. The one drawback was fuel consumption and it liked every 3rd tank to be premium gas. Regular oil and fluid changes were all this car required until 120k when brake pads for all 4 corners were required. Rotors were within toleance so cost was low. No recalls or bulletins I was aware of for this vehicle. Really enjoyed this Nissan experience. Would have considered another except my vehilce needs had changed. Would recommend to anyone who likes a drivers car.

1995 Nissan Altima

by TorontoDoug on 10-12-2012
1995 Altima
Bought new from a dealer in 1996 I enjoyed this car for 160,000 km. It remained trouble free and reliable until that time. A number of issues including alternator replacement and worn components forced me to trade this vehicle. Being a single car family the reliability factor being the primary concern. This was a fun car to drive being slightly smaller than other models in the midsize segment. Still roomy and a comfortable interior, it would move 4 adults easily with a smaller trunk comprimising cargo capability. The 4 cylinder mated to an automatic transmission powered this vehicle well for around town and highway driving. The engine did develop oil weeps as the car aged and has been typical of this model. For a first generation product it was well conceived and developed.

2005 Honda Accord

Trim: LE V6
by TorontoDoug on 10-12-2012
2005 Accord
I found this car to be reliable. The V6 povides a good level off performance at the expense of gas milage. Handling is average with a feeling of being disconnected from the road. When pushed hard in avoidance or spirited cornering, feedback was lacking in the steering wheel. Interior sound managemnt is extremely good and well insulated from road and wind noise. Braking performamce is excellent with 4 wheel power assisted disc brakes and the anti-lock performs well. A good large trunk holds a lot and the roomy cabin seats 4 adults comfortably. Fit and finish were typical Honda, excellent, with all the controls well laid out and easy to reach. Maintenace has consisted of regular oil and fluid changes with no surpises until the 120,000 Km range when the front and rear bushings get tired and generate noise requiring replacement. I would consider looking at another Accord when it comes time to replace this car.

1999 Honda Civic

1999 Honda Civic
It may not be pretty or fast but this car is reliable. With over 350,000 Km on this car it continues to start everyday and gets us where we need to go. All the features continue to function well, heat, defrost no problem. Regular oil changes and maintence will allow this car to run a couple more years. For a second car this has been a gem. Highly reccomended.

2012 Toyota Camry

Trim: CAMRY HYBRID
by TorontoDoug on 10-12-2012
Toyota Camry Hybrid
From the day I picked up the car I have been very impressed with the milage and drivability of the hybrid technology. Around town and on the highway power and handling have surpassed my expectations. Our monthly fuel bill has been cut in half and I calculate a return on the investment in 18 months. My wife enjoys driving the vehilce as well and the dealer support has been excellent. The keyless entry and start feature took some getting used to but is very convenient until I get in our older second car without this feature. I would recomend anyone looking for a midsize 4 door stop by Toyota and drive this car.
