Dependable and Reliable
If you want a vehicle is reliable, looks good and will retain its value, this is it. We've used ours for camping and summer vacations, going to the office, hauling loads of soil, and going to the theatre - a versatile vehicle for many purposes. When it snows and others are getting stuck, I simply press the 4X4 button and all is fine. Check consumer reports for yourself though, I did. We plan to buy another RAV in the future.

Love this car
I was waiting for Toyota to change the style of RAV4 and finally it happened in 2014. I love this car; very comfortable, reliable and beautiful. It is very comfortable to drive, and accelerates at uphills very well. There should be a few improvements in my opinion: the exhaust looks to be too close to ground, there is no switch to open the trunk when you are inside the car. But overall, it is a great car.

it great just needs a Lil more pep
I purchased a limited 09 rav 4 about 5 months ago to replace my 2003 matrix XRS 6 speed manual (I still have the matrix) The rav is not peppy at all when getting on the highway. The rear gate / side opening door is different. Inconvenient when someone is parked behind you at the mall and you need to get in the back. Other than that I love it I'm happy !

Live up to the Toyota Name
Dependable, reliable and boring. This car will never leave you on the road nor make you cry after you visit your mechanic. However, do not expect people to turn their head when you are driving this car. In terms of comfort, it is very basic as most Japanese. good for commuting. If you are looking for comfort and style, this is not your type. Mileage is good for a AWD and is better than the competition. If you have kids and is ok with a car getting dirty, or if you are senior and isn't interested in the opposite car attracted by your car, then this vehicle is for you :)

burns oil
I kept the car since 2010 and it had a issue with engine oil. The car is repaired under warranty and same problem after 2 years. The car doesn't go 400km full tank in the city. Better to go with v6 since power lacks and the body is heavy. The car is overall ok.

Great basic small SUV
If you are looking for a basic yet reliable small SUV, this is it. We've had it for three years now with zero problems. It's great on gas but the downside is that it's pretty plan looking with a very basic interior.

most reliable car ever!
Love Rav4! never had any problems with this car.
comfortable, reliable, and practical car ever.
I love when a car you drive daily is so easy to turn, park, or just dive on the highway. So you don't feel you have been working out after a trip. Cant tell you how mush i liked the car.
would never sell it, if not leaving the country.

Love my Rav4
I became a Great Grandma 2 times in 2013. I wanted a vehicle that would be reliable and safe enough to transport my little girls. I checked out other SUV ratings and found this to be the best for my needs. It's not too big or too small. Love the 4WD in winter months. Would not trade it for anything.

Smooth and reliable
Smooth, reliable and it fits my 6'4 frame. Just a few of the attributes which make up Ruby my red 2000 RAV4. I wish, however, that the headrests went up a little higher. Maneuvering is great with the short wheel base and it rides a lot smoother than my old Isuzu Rodeo. So good in the rain and looking forward to seeing how good she drives in the snow this winter. I exchanged the old rusted steel wheels for aluminum rims from a 2004 Camry and it looks so much better. I am also planning on a dark tint for the rear windows. Power is lacking somewhat in the 2 litre motor but she still gets you where you need to go. It costs me about $50 in gas to drive 500 km. Not a lot of room for adults in the back seats but when you fold down the rear seats you can store a bit of gear for overnight trips. An all around fun and reliable vehicle...so far.

Good Vehicle, 4 cylinder AWD
Bought this RAV4 used, just under 3 years old. It is comfortable on the highway and in town. We use it to tow our 14ft. boat, which it does well. The swing-open rear door is less desirable than a flip-up door, it requires extra clearance that today's parking spots don't allow. The fuel economy is down from the Escape that I had previously, but still friendly for an SUV in this class and year. I use it as a daily commuter and it gives a person the added security of AWD in the winter. The back seats are very spacious, I have fit a 6'1" 270 lb. man and his wife comfortably. The seat belt buckles in the back seat are pretty narrow and it makes it hard for full size adults to get them done up. Interior design is something that is very easy to use and nothing is out of reach. It has had a coolant pump replaced and a drive shaft, the u joint can't be replaced the $1200 shaft needs to be replaced. It has plenty of space for luggage and a hide away under the trunk floor. I would probably upgrade to the V6 if I did it over again, just for the extra towing and performance. Overall a good vehicle and a step up from the old Escape.

One of the best vehicles I have owned
Bought in 2006 as a lease-back with 67,000 km. Now has 262,000 km on it and still runs excellent. Uses about a half litre of oil between changes every 8000 km. Very reliable, only problem I had to change the ECM and that was covered by warranty. Just recently had to do some work on suspension...sway bar bushings. Most reliable vehicle I have owned since 1960's.

Exceeded my expectations
I am surprised by the get up and go this vehicle has with 4 adults and a bunch of groceries and other shopping. Being a 4 cylinder I expected the steep hills where I live to be more of a challenge. I really like the back-up camera. The only thing I don't like is the people in the back don't feel the a/c it would be nice if there was a vent or 2 back there for them.

Awesome all round vehicle
Awesome vehicle. The thing has so much power it's like it's wagging its tail. I pull a 2500lb boat in summer and live in snowy/icy Red Deer. Fuel economy way better than you'd expect. Transmission responsive. Pulled the boat back from Maine to Alberta one year (yes 4500 km) and was gleefully roaring past 18 wheelers on small, narrow highways at speeds I daren't admit to. Real shame they no longer do a V6 Rav cos I'd like a new one after 140,000 km in 4 years.
Only gripes. Aux input for audio system doesn't work properly and costs $150 to replace (a common fault I believe) and the cruise control switch has failed and will cost $300 to fix. Sport suspension a bit much when my bad back is hurting (wished I'd got the limited model).

2012 Limited V-6
Just picked up a 2012 Limited V-6 and have been very impressed thus far.
This is the third Rav4 in the family, one daughter has a '04, and the younger daughter has an '05, and we just recently got our very own gently used 2012 Rav4.
All of them have been wonderfully reliable and fun to drive!

2009 Toyota RAV4 AWD
Toyota’s 2009 RAV4 is a compact sport-utility vehicle that is slightly larger than some of its competition. But despite its relatively large size, it’s also one of the lightest vehicles in its segment, a trait which pays dividends in the RAV4’s driving dynamics and fuel efficiency. The RAV4 returns excellent fuel economy of 10.69 liters/100kms city and 8.40 liters/100kms highway. The 2009 RAV4 is powered by a new, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 179 horsepower and is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The new engine is more powerful than the 2006 to 2008's 2.4-liter and is also more fuel-efficient. The RAV4 boasts class-leading interior space. Second-row seats are adjustable and offer spacious legroom. Cargo capacity behind the second row is an impressive 37.2 cubic feet. What we like most about the RAV4 is its refined, carlike demeanor. The excellent fuel economy of the four-cylinder, responsive and fun driving dynamics, massive interior space and Toyota Quality puts the RAV4 at the head of its class.

I love my RAV4
I bought my 2002 RAV4 from a Toyota dealer in 2005 when it came off a lease. It is the best car I ever had! So trouble free, no major repairs, just maintenance. Always starts even on the coldest days. Great cargo room - I was even able to fit in a single mattress moving my kid to university! And yet very compact and easy to park and maneuver.
I think the seats could be more comfortable and the stereo could be better.
At this point some rust is setting in, so I know my RAV4 will not last forever, but I don't know how I will replace it. The new RAV4s are too big. The 2002 model was just the right size, and I love the style and colour too (gold).
