Seriously reliable.
Never had to take the car to the shop for anything other than scheduled maintenance. There was a problem with the electrical wiring to the heated rear window but a google search showed the problem and a bit of soldering fixed that. This car just goes and goes.

A smooth driving experience...
I've always loved this car on the highway and in the city. The smooth, though powerful engine rides like a dream. Great on gas and very spacious. Huge trunk too.

Very Sexy Car!
This is not your average Impala. The SS branding indicates it has a much more powerful engine then all other trims. The suspension is beefed up as well as the breaks. The car handles very well, comfortable and sleek. An excellent vehicle for a young family who needs the convenience of a sedan, but want the performance and feel of a luxury sports car, and with 'Displacement On Demand' you can drive for economy on 4 cylinders, or utilize the full power of all 8 cylinders! Very well maintained and fun to drive.

There's always something wrong with it
The interrior and exterrior of the car look great. The quaity of the parts are horrible, there is always something going wrong wih this car. There are 333 xxx xxx km and the motor seems to be fine but there is constant troubles with other parts and the transmissions are not good. Had mine rebuilt once already and its going again.

My personal view of
This car is a very nice looking car outside and in. One problem i find is the sun visors they don't cover enough of the sun, so you have to kind of sit to one side if you are driving into the sun. Also it has too many electronic components and would cost you a fourtune to repair. But otherwise it drives beautiful and has pretty good gas mileage. Nice sporty design alot nicer lookimg then the years previous.

The Ultimate Sleeper - Impala SS
Owner
Overall Rating9.2Styling9.0Performance10Interior8.0Quality10Recommendation9.0The Ultimate Sleeper - Impala SS by Bobkat from Toronto on 04/15/2012. Trim: 2006 Chevrolet Impala SS, Owned less than 1 year. Useful? Pros: This car is truly a sleeper. Most folks, except those "in the know", haven't a clue what's under the hood of the SS. Yesterday a guy in a Mustang GT challenged me to a drag - I politely declined his offer - out of kindness I suppose. I've heard this thing will give a Corvette a run for its money and even blow away the odd Camaro SS. I'm not sure if this is true and I don't really want to find out. All I know is that the Impala SS has more power than it knows what to do with. No matter what speed you're going there is always gobs of torque in reserve to get you going even faster. It is truly the most exciting car I've ever owned. If stealth performance is your thing --- this is your car.

Cons: Very few - side mirrors are a bit on the small side. Limited side and rear visibility due to the rear spoiler and huge front seat headrests. My SS did not come with factory XM satellite radio and my dealer tells me it can't be added because the floor console isn't compatible with satellite radio -- not sure how the radio and floor console are related...makes no sense to me but that's just the way it is. The 5.3 V8 seems REALLY happy with 91 octane premium fuel - runs on regular 87 but you don't get the same "get-up-and-go".

Overall I am very satisfied with my '06 Impala SS. Just wish I could add factory XM radio... also wish premium gas wasn't so expensive.

2006 Chevrolet Impala SS
This car has been excellent. It has loads of power and very good fuel economy for a 5.3 V8. The back seat is a little cramped for adults, however I have two carseats in the back no problem. The exhaust on this car sounds amazing, all leather interior, Bose sound system, 6 disc changer. Overall very nice car, handles like a dream and goes like a bat out of you know where.

2006 Chevrolet Impala LT - Well Done GM
Purchased used in March of 2008, with approx 30,000 km's on it, vehicle now has approx 120,000 km's on it. JUST recently replaced original battery, put on new tires, and that is it.

Sunroof is a nice addition, no issues with it.

Backseat on our LT does NOT have truck access. This can be a small pain especially if purchasing something slightly longer and you need to put the rear seats down (something to watch for, as I feel most Impala's have this option avaliable.)
*Trunk space is quite large*

Car drives smoothly, keeping in mind that it is fairly long, longer then some smaller SUV's. Parking has never been an issue for us, just keep this in mind if living in a bigger centre.

Vehicle on the highway averaged approx 35-38 mpg, cruising at 109km's per hour, at approx 1750 rpm it hardly seems to be working.
City driving is probably closer to 19-21 mpg

Used it also to tow a small trailer with a snowmobile on it, with no problems (hitch & wiring installed by U-Haul).

One item, which I feel is a problem with all car manuf. is the distance for the remote start, which was really not all that far, compared to aftermarket remote start.
According to the dealer they are only permitted a certain frequency which is not that strong, whereas aftermarket is not, ergo, they can get up to a mile away for remote start (or more depending on if you get smart phone tech installed with the aftermarket)

Great Car
This car has been great to us and our family. It looks great and drives amazing. It is so smooth and easy to handle. It has plently of room for lots of passengers and the trunk is very spacious for all our cargo need. Its great on gas and very safe and reliable. It has not needed much work but has been kept up perfectly with maintenance appointments. This was a great car for our family but sadly we have outgrown it, we hope it can be as great to you as it was to us
