2012 Toyota Prius c

Still gets attention
After 5 years I still love driving my Prius C. I have driven a lot of cars but none gets as much attention especially at the gas pumps as this one.

2014 Toyota Prius c

Great car for us to get around in at a lower cost!
It's been great! At least $750 a year in savings on gas. It has been very comfortable to drive both summer and winter. Takes to winter far better than I expected it to. We have used it mostly in the city but it has performed exceptionally on long trips as well at 110 to 120 Kim's per hour.

What a good car...
This car has honestly been my best friend. It wouldn't die on me because of its fuel because it is a hybrid car, which makes it so much more fuel efficient and saves so much money.

2012 Toyota Prius c

A little disappointing
I guess when i got the car, I had hopes of lots of savings on gas. The reality is that to get the best savings you need to fit into a specific category of people. If you do, you will be very happy with the savings. If you don't then you will not be as impressed.

The type of person that will get the best savings is:
1. Travel to an from work, 20-50 km in traffic
2. Live in a warm or temperate climate
3. No teenagers or only "green" minded teenagers

The car works best in stop and go traffic, and since it takes a while to warm up, your trip has to be longer then 10-15 minutes (like mine).

The colder the weather the more the engine runs to keep the engine "warm".

To get the best savings you should not be doing jack rabbit starts, keep your eye on the engine speed, and drive 50-60km wherever appropriate. If you do, you can keep it on electricity more then not, but if you have teens that don't care, then your savings are lost when they drive like normal teenagers.

So if you can meet the criteria, you will be very happy and have a big smile on your face when you are sitting at a light and it is costing you nothing. But otherwise you are paying way more then you should a month in payments, and not getting the savings. Buy a Yaris instead.
