Been a great family vehicle!
Bought ours new in 2005. It currently has just over 250,000 kms. This van has been very dependable through the years. The maintenance costs are very low. It still rides nice and gives great fuel economy on the highway. I would recommend this as a good value family hauler, these vans sell for very reasonable prices. I've spent more on maintenance on my 2011 Sienna in 3 years than I did in 9 years with the montana.

2005 Pontiac Montana Ext w/ DVD
Purchased vehicle used with approx. 75000kms in 2009 for $11,000. In 4 yrs have put 41000kms on it with very few problems (power window sliders, transmission coolant hoses and thermostat). Biggest complaint would be all the rattles it makes. 3rd row seats easily fold up and with a bit of muscle are rather easily removed. For a family of 4 it is very versatile from getting 4X8 sheets of drywall to a full size couches brought home! Has DVD system and power slide door both are great for the young family. The engine, 3.4L is starting to get sluggish still can pull off a highway pass loaded with 4 and cargo. Fuel economy is starting to slide, was around 13L/100 when bought, now around 16L/100 (city driving). Highway is around 11L/100. Will likely keep for 1 more year. It has been great as the family people mover.

Durable and Reliable
I've loved driving the Montana, it's been a solid vehicle the whole time. The interior is roomy enough for 7 adults, and the seats are easy to move around for when I have cargo to carry.

Completely Recommend
minor repairs, that were cheaper being gm, and reliable for driving with kids. Quiet ride, great mileage on highway driving, not as good with in town driving.

Decent for North American
Average. Could be worse. All cars have "known" issues. This one is no exception. Example: traction control light and ABS lights. Loose connections causing computer display issues. Poor design of windshield wipers, always freeze up in the winter months. Power door connections failing, trim falls off both of which will cause the door not to close.

This van has been great however we do have problems with the automatic sliding door and the power window buttons do not last on this year and model.

2002/2005 Montana
Overall very reliable vehicle. Great fuel economy for a minivan.
Typical mechanical failures are a bit premature, e.g. front brakes every 65K, A/C failed once in each vehicle within 6 yrs, front bearings and struts also, but typical of domestic vehicle

Good Minivan
We leased this Montana and kept it for four years and 111,000 km. During this time nothing had to be fixed on it and all we did was replace the tires and brakes once.
The vehicle was a 7 seater with four captain chairs. The rear bench was not the most comfortable but the front four seats were great for long distance trips.
Fuel mileage was decent when the van was unloaded, but with several people in the vehicle, the 3.4 L V6 struggled to maintain highway speeds and fuel mileage suffered.
We liked the two-tone paint job on the vehicle as well.
