1995 Nissan Pathfinder

Reliable and smooth no matter the terain
I had a pathfinder as a first vehicle and it could handle anything a teenager could through at it plus some. It just keeps running, is spacious, and comfortable.

useful for mountaineous roads
I bought this car used, in 2007. It needed the oxygen "thing" fixed
(sorry! I'm being like a girl at not remembering the name of that... catalitic converter? it had to do with the regulated intake of oxygen anyway)
I fuel hose needed to be replaced and the mechanic ripped me off for $500 for wasting 8 hours with his "apprentice", teaching his "apprentice" how to attach a simple fuel hose, which made me angry because I shouldn't have to pay for someone else's learning?!!!
anyways, my beef about the design of the car, is this:
The oil filter is situated in an impossible place: under and around things.
I had to get the Walmart mechanic to come out to the parking lot where I was trying unsuccessfuly to change the oil.
The way it is designed requires an oil can tool, a long glove to not get oil all over my arm, and a familiarity of that particular oil filter placement.
Terrible placement, totally out of the way.

The fuel oxygen exchange was faulty and unfixable: the lug-nut was rusted shut onto the main body. I was told at least $250 to remove that one nut...!
The oil filter placement was inconvenient.
thank you

They don't make them like they used to...
Had a 1995 Pathfinder a while back, and I can summarize my experience like this: I deeply regret selling it! Had things been different, that would have never happened...
It is (was?) a real SUV in every sense of the word: a boxy thing that can take you anywhere and carry lots of stuff given its footprint. Fuel economy wasn't terrible, the reliability was rock solid, and it even had a tire carrier...perhaps that last one is a bit of a personal preference, though. :)

1995 Nissan Pathfinder

its a gas guzzel ride
Review
The Pathfinder itself as a vehicle is queen of snow and off road. It always starts and runs. Never broke down on the road. However theed very poor quality material used in the frame is apparent. I have spent 6k rebuilding every part of the frame you can think of to pass inspection twice now. Not sure if it will pass this year for either frame issues or steering rod issues-1996 was recalled for rusted out steering rods but not the 1995. If you can weld then its a great off road, snow vehicle

My Dad hates this car.
I'm writing this review on behalf of my Dad who never hesitated to complain about this car in the 10 years he owned it. His major complaint was that everything started to break down in the car "overnight". It seemed the moment it hit around the 8 year mark, everything started to "go". I think he would have been better served to have gone with another car in the same class -- the Toyota 4Runner which is known to be very reliable with excellent resale value.
