2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

One of our favorites
We have been completely satisfied with this car. Impressed with the comfortable quiet ride, sleek design and amazing fuel mileage. This was a great car for us for our commute between Calgary and Canmore. With a new-to-us old Landrover and truck to fit our adventurous lifestyle, we need to make room for our son's toys in the garage where it has been kept when not in use.

Great Ride, Great Fuel Economy
I've driven 100k km with this vehicle and still get a 6.5 l/100hkm with it. Its never failed on me and is reliable as ever. Absolutely recommend. If you are looking for a vehicle that will look good, drive well, and has a great sound system, this is the car for you
Not only has it been an asset In day to day life, but the hybrid fuel economy has saved me hundreds of dollars over the years and I look forward to continue to drive this car regardless of any future purchases I make.
TLDR, this is a great car , and you will not regret buying it

Its a great ride
Very comfortable vehicle. Surprisingly spacious. Very reliable in the cold winter months. The heated seats are great. We really enjoy the dual temperature controls . The Hybrid -gas combo gives us fantastic gas mileage. All around it is a great vehicle.

Fantastic car
This is a very good car to buy, great on gas and automatically shifts from the electric engine to the gas engine. Fuel mileage is great and often I forget to get gas when it gets low. Sound system is awesome and the interior is laid out great for the driver and passenger. Fairly good trunk space despite battery in back.

2015 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

Trim: Limited

Surprised and impressed
I typically buy a 1-2 year old used car but the Sonata Limited hybrid was offered at a great deal. I don't think I have ever been impressed with a car... I am getting 6.1 l/100 km in 70/30 hwy/city driving which is better than I was expecting. The car is very comfortable to drive. I was expecting some issues with the cruise control on hills based on other reports I've read but I have not seen an issue at all. In fact the transition between electric/gas/both/battery only is so smooth you don't notice it at all. I can highly recommend this vehicle! I have rated reliability as the car is new--too soon to tell.

2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

Best looking and Best value hybrid
When the price is this good, why buy a normal Sonata? I've had an average of 36-37mpg over the past two years. It's quiet, smooth, and comfortable. It has great acceleration on the highway, yet it can be calm and reserved in the city, saving precious fuel when starting at green lights. It does take a bit of adjustment to driving style in order to get the most out of the hybrid system, but it's worth it. Transmission is a 6-speed automatic, which makes it more familiar but it isn't always the smoothest between electric and gas as it has a rather large double-clutch connecting the two engines. Continuous software improvements from Hyundai are smoothing this out more and more. Interior is very stylish, practical, and comfortable. I recommend replacing the stock tires with Michelin Primacy MXV4s which are efficient but far better in the winter. Did I mention that the added front end weight helps make this a very good car in the winter? I've found it very sturdy and manageable even in cold, snowy, and windy weather. All in all, while the transmission could use further refinement and larger batteries would help improve the mileage even more, I can't recommend this car enough to those serious about having a great comfortable and efficient car.

Sonata Hybrid 2012
This car is spacious inside, perfect for family to travel even with baby and car seat in side. Exterior looks very stylish. However, trunk spaces is smaller compare to other cars of the same size due to battery location, but still good to carry 2 large suitcase and a few hand carry bags. Large gas tank that can last for quite a while depending on driving habit. Personally find it more efficient when travelling longer distance and on highway.

2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Premium...it is Premium!!
We ended up heading over to the Hyundai dealership to check out their most recent sale. We have owned, Chrysler, GM, Ford and had the Santa Fe for the last four years. The Sonata Hybrid caught our eye. After reviewing the $ numbers too we found out that in our case, we would save about $200.00/mth (monthly payment, fuel and insurance.)

It was interesting when we took our first test drive, because you have to slightly re-learn how to drive. By that I mean, instead of hammering on the gas, the car encourages you (by the use of it`s display and reward graphics) to accelerate more gradually.
If not, you get a small but noticeable lag in the throttle output.

We cannot rave more about the vehicle's looks, design, fuel economy, etc, etc... My wife loved driving SUVs because she washger off theground, but she quickly and easily adapted to the Sonata Hybrid.

Interesting when you speak with some people how opposed or resistant they are when it comes to Hybrids... But with an 8 year (Canada) guarantee on all Hybrid components (lifetime in the U.S. For the original purchaser), you cannot go wrong.

On our most recent trip we achieved just over 900km on a single tank. Love it!

Its a great ride
The sonata hybrid is a smooth ride, you feel like you are riding on a cloud, It handles well and is not a gas guzzler like alot of cars and has a great safety rating according to reports I read online. This is the car I want because my mom has a hard time getting in and out of the Hyundai Accent that I now own.

Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is a hit!
This mid sized, comfortable car is a great size for the family. The Sonata Hybrid gets great fuel economy without sacrificing power. The leather interior with heated seats both front and back is a hit for mom, dad and kids. I drive a total of 175km to get to and from work so great gas mileage is important but I am also happy that if I get caught behind a slow driver I can call upon the car to get me pass that vehicle quickly and safely. The only thing I am not a fan of is the slight delay on takeoff for the gas engine to kick in, it makes the car seem a little sluggish at first but within seconds you are off without issue. I truly love my Sonata Hybrid and having owned more than 15 vehicles this is one of my favourites!

a great smooth ride!!!
I loved driving this car because it was so comfortable. it is also easy on gas and handles like a dream, when i buy a car i will be looking for a car exactly like this one, easy on gas and drives like a dream. it needs to be comfortable like the Hyundai also. My children loved being in the back seat due to the comfort. they didnt complain once while riding in the backseat. all they did was sing.

Overall great car
The Sonata Hybrid is an overall great car for its amazing style, reliably, and fuel economy. For a Hybrid the car is quite large too which is a nice plus. The only issue with that is that turning sometimes feels like a boat. That being said, Everything else about the car is awesome!

Comfortable!
It's a little bit hard to adjust to the switch from battery to gas mode - it jolts you a bit - but other than that, it's a very good drive, comfortable, fuel efficient, and safe.

It's an outstanding value
I was originally looking for a Toyota Prius and out of curiosity I checked out Hyundai's hybrid offering. Other than the Kia Optima (which is basically a clone of the Sonata), you would have to get the top of the line Prius to match the Sonata Premium in terms of features and pay a lot more.

For example, heated rear seats aren't even an option for the Prius. And you have more leg room in the back with the Sonata. To get Navigation, and panoramic sunroof, leather seats --- Toyota makes you pay a considerable amount more. And have you seen the interest rates Hyundai is offering?

I have averaged 6.7L/100km in city driving. The best I could achieve was on a highway trip up north: 5.9L/100km. The Sonata is a very comfortable car for all passengers. Over 800km per tank on average for a car this size.

I was skeptical of going with Hyundai's first crack at a hybrid car - but I realized with evidence that they had to make sure the car would shine and meet/exceed Toyota's hybrid performance. And I applaud their use of a conventional 6-sp transmission - CVTs in Prius cars are tough to get used to and need refinement. When BMW launches their hybrids, it'll be conventional transmissions... think about it. Lithium polymer batteries - amazing.

Overall, there is nothing on the market that can touch the value the Sonata hybrid provides. Backed by the best warranty in the business... Hyundai is making a huge statement.
